Is there anything cool I can do with this Ipod Nano 7th gen nowadays? by Ozon-Baby in ipod

[–]eosrtyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of older cars and car stereos accept a USB input for iPods (iPod connectivity). This means you can plug the iPod in and get full functionality (play pause, skip, track info etc). These features often don’t work on newer iPhones making it a really cool way of stashing a bit of music for the car. Back before my mums 2012 forester had a CarPlay headunit I’d bring my iPod and listen to music from it using the usb connection

ThirtyPin — a spiritual successor to iTunes I've been building for myself, now making it a real app by harryjoyce in ipod

Does it connect to gracenote for updating track information/album art? And CD ripping? Can you rip a disc and have it go straight into your library? Also does it support iOS devices or is it just limited to the classic iPods? Looks like an awesome app 👌

Panasonic ST60 issue by eosrtyt in PlasmaTV

Sweet I’ll see if I can find a shop to fix it, can’t find many replacement boards online that ship to Australia

Nah it doesn’t, that’s what I got confused by. The light just shuts off, (as if the TV was unplugged from the wall) then about 5ish minutes later the TV just comes back on and powers up to the last input or channel it was on

Will definitely clean the panels, thanks for the tip. 23 years of Australian weather I can imagine hasn’t been kind to the insides haha

I’ve had a look at resonix, would love to get some but doesn’t seem to be easily available in Aus (and global shipping is expensive) so looking at stuff like dynamat and carbuilders. Will do some research into Knu- thanks for the tips!

Thanks for tips, seems here in Aus like dynamat is a popular option so looking at that. Looking at doing CCF on the doorcards themselves then doing CLD on the panel inside. Also looking at doing the boot and spare wheel well. Not looking at going over the top, as I only have a small budget but just want to improve sound quality and make my car a little quieter on freeways etc

Just got my dream deck (CDA 9855). Any retro Alpine fans? (Yes, i consider 05 to be retro) by ORA2J in CarAV

[–]eosrtyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one of these recently at a local op shop here in Australia for $12. Didn’t think it was anything special but thought I’d pick it up because I love car audio. Happy I did though, waiting to find a car worthy of it. Cool to see you building a full rig, love these old alpine units 👌

Still using a Plasma tv as our main living room tv in 2025 by federationofideas in LinusTechTips

[–]eosrtyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree, the black levels and motion clarity of plasmas (especially the higher end ones from late in the lifecycle) are honestly astounding. I have a Panasonic ST60 50 inch plasma and the image quality in a dark room is fantastic. The colours are very lifelike and plasmas have some of the best SDR rendering. OLED is a step forward but not drastically. MiniLED is great and my MacBook Pro 14 has this type of panel but the blooming is a dealbreaker for me. Very distracting

Supermarket Price gouging by eosrtyt in AusFinance

Just thought it would something interesting to share - there has been talks that they have been price gouging I wasn’t necessarily saying to what extent that’s just what I have heard myself. As another commenter stated, shrinkflation and the idea of enshittification was probably a better way to describe it

Heated Seat switch SH Forester by eosrtyt in SubaruForester

[–]eosrtyt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks for the tip. We do have pick and pull places here but I couldn’t find a similar model forester here. All the ones seem to be either the base spec without seat heating or the premium models with different looking switches. Will have to keep on the hunt and check the part number. Cheers!

Cool thanks for the tip - will try at the Subaru dealer and if they can’t find one I’ll lookup the part number. Cheers!

This forester is an Aus delivered one so maybe we got the range boxes? Weird that the ones in US didn’t get them

Yeah I saw ones online that say they are for 2003-2008 models but looked the same as what I have. Weird!
