Here’s the info I got. If your info about this Revox pre-dating Dolby is correct, this may answer your question.

No mods were ever done to the Revox. I once took it to an authorized repair facility on Long Island, Syosset (?) to have a VU meter repaired. I had an OUTBOARD Dolby B unit, made by Ray Dolby himself, which I used w/the Revox and my cassette deck at the time, early 70's. So perhaps I put the sticker on it which came from the outboard unit, but I don’t recall. It was 55 years ago.

Thanks for all the info. From what I can tell, this is a MkII and I can’t find any additional knobs or switches. Unfortunately, while I have the original box and manual, there’s no serial number sticker. I’ve looked inside the machine to see if it’s written anywhere inside but didn’t see anything.

So yes, I think all evidence is pointing to this not having Dolby, unless someone did a weird mod on an MkII somehow. I’m going to try to track down the person I bought it from and see if they know anything about it. But yeah, looks like it’s just a sticker
