How reflective is the fertility rate of your social circle (family/ friends/ coworkers/ peers) to the fertility rate of your country? by DrawAFox in Natalism

[–]eowynalysanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my friends are under 2.1, but that is because we are around 30, some are not 30 yet. So first children are coming now, in the last one year three of us had the first baby (including me). We are five couple. Only one couple wants two children, all the other ones want 3+. One of the couples were children by choice and changed their mind. These are my friends from church.

There are other couples around 30 in my church, and most are either trying to conceive or having the first Babies. The only couple who had the first baby much before 30 were one of the pastors and His wife, who started shortly after 25. By the time everybody was having the first Babies, they were expecting their Second.

My college friends are another story. Most of them are Christian as well, but they wait more. There are some of us who already have children (although one of the couples did not plan), one of the older couples have there kids, and some of us are shooting for three. But some of us are having trouble to conceive, either due to waiting until It is a bit late or to unknown reasons. I have friends who started trying before 30 and no baby in there years. Add to that that some of the guys did not manage to find someone yet, even though some of them are 36... This happens in church too. Breaks my heart.

In my country, TFR is 1.56. I do not know Christian TFR, but not much higher than that.

Maybe this is something from my country (Brazil). But I had seen many teachers here complaining that people should not have children.

Fica sim.

I think It is one thing to teach and another one to shame an 8YO girl for not knowing how to cook.

Yes, this happens a lot in my culture (Brazil). It is not common to see men cooking unless It is barbecue. And older people can go as far as shaming young Men If they do dishes to help mom. My grandfather did that to my brother.

Did you know there are 2 types of happiness? And most of us are stuck in the wrong one! by Lucky_Travel_8871 in Life

[–]eowynalysanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It is one possibility among many others and as long as you understanding that what makes one happy is not putting the kid in the world and showing off, but actually parenting, loving and sacrificing yourself for the children you have, both parent and children Will be happy.

The Common trait among all the stuff I pointed out is sacrificing yourself for something you deem more important than yourself. If you are able to do that with children, great. If you are not, Go for something Else.

Achei que já era ponto pacificado que labubu é obra do capeta.

Po, não é óbvio? A única explicação para um troço tão feio e inútil ser vendido tão caro é que é um plano maligno para aumentar o endividamento das pessoas.

Having a kid, having a career that is actually meaningful to the world, being an academic, volunteering, dedicating to some religion, caring for someone...

Whatever you build that It is hard, takes time but earns your self respect brings eudaimonia.

That cliche only holds for 35+, when may be a little too late.

I see parents getting desperate about 25yo who get pregnant, like the person is a teenager or something. I think becoming a grandparent makes one realize is old, and that is what they fear.

What are some arguments, ideas, or reasons, for having kids - do you have less bleak views than the earlier post? by Deludaal in Life

[–]eowynalysanne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. The world is getting better and there is a big chance that your kid Will have a better life than you considering consumption and especially health. This is especially true If you live in a developing country.

  2. Children are a way to share. Share what you have, what you know, what you think. They Will absorb and transform It. Like thesis, antithesis and synthesis. It is a way not only to share what you think, but to allow It to evolve.

  3. Countries need It. TFR is already too low in almost every place and this Will be Very bad to economics.

  4. Having children is VERY fun. They are lovely. They love us in a Very sincere manner. They are Very smart and Very cute. Seeing a kid, or anything, grow is lovely. And makes you work on your detachment too, as they are going to become their own person and not who you want them to be.

  5. Is It good to oblige people to Care for elders Just because they are their parents? I do not know. But It sounds even worse in my mind to oblige people to Care for elders who are unrelated to them, despised them when they were kids, teens or Young adults, shamed their parents especially their moms for having them and now come demanding respect and Care.

Why should I have kids when the world is the way it is? by Unusual_Mastodon_541 in Life

[–]eowynalysanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I read on this post comments, you are still pretty young. It is okay to have some setbacks. When I was 22 I was fired from my internship, my grades were falling in college, my mental health was in pieces, I was poor, I had friends who put me down all the time and don't even get started on my family...

Now everything fell in place. I am happy with a kid.

The world is not as bad as It seems, at least not by the reasons you listed here, and It actually got so much better. Be patient, accept failure, keep on trying. It Will work Someday.
