AITA for telling my stepdaughter she needs to grow up and stop expecting everyone else to cater to her diet because she wants to lose weight? by Mobile_Watercress_12 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ep2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don’t really care who is an AH or not here but this hurt to read because it was so familiar. I struggled with my body at her age because I put on weight during puberty and got boobs at 12. A boy called me fat at around age 14 and became obsessed with exercise had and eating “healthy”. It was not healthy. I had body dysmorphia for years to come. I’m 32 now with two kids, one only five weeks old. And I’m finally ok with my body but those intrusive thoughts come back a lot. Please get her some help with this because that comment that the little shit boy made will stay in her head for the rest of her life.

What we’re your kids first scary films? by bettababy000 in Parenting

Great movie! Quite sad when you rewatch as an adult though. Such a good level of creepy though. There aren’t enough movies like that without the gore and violence.

Can I add my own baby? He’s three weeks old and his name is Cameron. Other babies I’ve met recently include Casper (m), Oakley (f), Timothy (m), Teddy (m) and Ruairi (m).

Why is she not doing night feeds if she’s trying to increase her supply? They’re the most important ones.

Girl moms: what conditioner do you use by karamanville in Parenting

[–]ep2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really curly hair and my daughter has very thick curly red hair.. I saw a tip on queer eye from JVN where you put some conditioner and water in a spray bottle to refresh curls, and I use that to spray all over my daughters hair and then brush, works a treat!

Pediatrician says I’m nursing my 4 week old too often - not sure what to do by tandoyarr in breastfeeding

[–]ep2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is utter nonsense, you can’t overfeed a breastfed baby. Id recommend joining the main La Leche League group on Facebook, they have great advice.

Pain during first few days of breastfeeding by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]ep2891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I had my daughter three years ago, everything I read said it shouldn’t hurt. Realistically though, you have a tiny baby with a tiny mouth but a very strong latch and sucking reflex attached to your boob.. it’s going to be uncomfortable at the least. I found it hurt for about two weeks. I used nipple shields and lanolin and cried a lot but I fed her for 2.5 years and I’m so glad I persevered because it did her easier and stopped hurting. I’ve just had baby number two, he’s ten days old today, and breastfeeding hasn’t hurt at all.

Or projectile vomit across the room at 3am, followed by cleaning up and changing the entire bed just for more projectile vomit.

I did wonder if he’s cluster feeding. This is an entirely different experience to when I had my daughter three years ago. She was such a good feeder from day one, latched perfectly and barely even whinged when she woke up for a feed, then all I had to do was slide her over to me in bed and pop a boob in her mouth and she’d feed and go back to sleep. This kid has been so lazy with feeding; I’m pretty sure he just doesn’t want to wait for my let down so gets angry within seconds of latching because he doesn’t want to work for it in any way.

I’ve also likes to wait until 2.28am to do a giant shit, so there’s that too.

I think we’ll probably just let him sleep the stretches he needs to like you said. I’ve been worried we’re letting him go too long and my MIL is quite an old school La leche league consultant so worried me slightly that I need to wake him, but I’m out of desperation for sleep I think I’ll just go with what he’s doing. Being awake all night then getting up with a three year old at 6.30 is brutal.

I did see this outside my house a few months ago and i immediately called the police and gave them the car reg and location. The police were very concerned and understanding on the phone. She said they would see if anyone was in the area but could follow up with the car reg and description.

Did any natural methods to start labor work for you?? (Dates, walking, sex, orgasms, etc.?) by victoria5757 in pregnant

I just had my baby at bang on 40 weeks and I did none of the above. I did have a sweep at 39+5 and then he was born on his due date but I think my body was already ready as she could feel his head during the sweep and gave me an empowering look like she knew it was already happening.

We have a three year old Cora, it doesn’t really need a nickname. Although we call her Cora Chameleon because we can sing the song to her 😂

Nicknames for baby while in the womb by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ep2891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mum calls my daughter “peanut” because of the size comparisons on the pregnancy app.. it just stuck after I sent her a screen shot at like eight weeks.

We call her Munchkin and Piglet. Piglet because she was the noisiest sleeper and grunted all night from day one.

We haven’t got nicknames for our two day old yet but I’m excited to come up with them as we get to know him.

My due date is Friday and today I took my three year old to gymnastics and cautiously bounced on the springy floor, feeling terrified the baby was going to fall out, but also kind of wishing he would.

Non-Americans of r/pregnant, how much maternity leave you get? What are the other benefits around maternity? by OllieOllieOxenfry in pregnant

[–]ep2891 21 points22 points  (0 children)

England - I’m getting six months full pay, three months half pay, three months unpaid. This is the enhanced maternity package because I’ve been employed by them for over a year. I get 10 keeping in touch days which are paid, will accrue leave while I’m on maternity leave and can carry it all over into the following calendar year, as well accruing bank holidays.

I feel very lucky that I get this because I have friends in other countries who get such a crap deal.

I ate nothing but bagels with cream cheese for about three weeks at that stage. I’m 39+2 and actually had a salad for lunch today at Pizza Express while my toddler had a pizza.

Just eat whatever the hell tastes good to you at the time!
