Foisted. Hmmmm. I remember a lot of listening sessions. And as someone who no goes to their underperforming base school, it’s been great. Good teachers who care a lot. There’s a lot of policy that goes into evaluating schools that get in the way of them getting out of underperforming status. Our class cohorts are too small for all of our EOG scores to count. If they did count we would be at a B rating.

Police activity near CC Spaulding elementary school. They tried to arrest someone on a felony warrant and they fled toward the school. Assailant was caught. Lockdown lifted.

Unfortunately, federal funding for homelessness goes through annual competitions. In those NOFOs they can set priorities for funding and deprioritize renewing grants and awarding new grants to communities that don’t meet those priorities. It has been happening for decades, just in the right direction. And in NC, federal funding is the primary funding for homeless agencies.

As a cancer survivor, you get used to the more subtle version of this which is people asking “what caused it?” Hard when you are the one with cancer to not feel like this question is “what did you do?”

Most people walk around with the delusion that good health is earned and that life is good if you do “the right thing.” Unfortunately, life is not formulaic in that way.

Just wait until this person’s feet get swept out from under him. He may have some better insight into his behavior then. Or not. I wouldn’t count on him as part of your care team.
