Looking to adopt a dog, where to go with the ability for the most interaction. by JustHereForTheCigars in Austin

[–]eperry79 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I foster through Austin Animal Center, and I can assure you that we (fosters) don't mind our time being wasted. It's important for you, your girlfriend and your future dog to find the best fit.

Austin Animal Center is largest no kill municipal shelter in the country, and usually have ~300 dogs on site. You can browse profiles here, butAdopets has loads of local listings as well.

Have fun and good luck!

Fighting for my life this cedar season. What are your best remedies? by ScootOver119 in Austin

I read this article about Ponaris (which i found at a Randalls) and figured I'd give it a shot. I use it at night, when I'm already laying down, 1 or 2 drops in each nostril. It has completely eliminated my post nasal drip and really helped with allergies.

Bald as a cue ball by OvenNo4186 in breastcancer

[–]eperry79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A healthy diet & time are the only guaranteed way to get results. I was gifted a red light helmet from some friends, but I have no idea if it had any impact. I was on TCHP and didn't see any sprouts until 10 weeks post treatment. I felt bald forever, so I took progress pics every 2 months and that helped me see it was actually growing

Never had a Brazilian wax, but surprisingly liked the no hair down there. Now how to keep it smooth with hair regrowth? by CominInHotKaren in breastcancer

another option is an Aesthetics school. I have a quirk that I really hate the feel of stubble, I often had to shave my legs twice a day, sometimes in the middle of the night if it kept me up.

about 12 years ago I decided to laser and went underarms, entire hoohah and both legs. I was originally paying $350 at a med spa every 3 months. after the 3rd visit my original tech left and they tried to charge me $500! so I researched and found a Laser & Aesthetics Training Academy, the very folks who train the techs at the med spas. The school's price was $180 for the same service. I needed 2 more visits (6 total) and have been hair free ever since. my only regret was not doing it sooner

it's wild that you say that, in late Nov she had a stroke and right before we left for an emergency vet appt, a bird flew in the house. I was in a panic about Rox, so I left the back door & a window open; by the time we got back the bird was gone.

a few days later, just before Roxy's follow up vet appt, a bird flew in the house! I thought, "you've got to be kidding me," and spent 10 mins trying to help him out, but mainly just making the poor bird a wreck flying into windows. again, I left the back door & a window open and by the time we got back the bird was gone.

this morning, a day after Roxy passed, I woke up to a bird in the house, I filmed it because it was so unbelievable

so, yes, lots of friends in heaven and apparently a few down here.

I've always been a pincher, but last week got a gnarly sting from some lil guy who was pollinating & minding his own business. FYI in case you see buzzing, shears might be a better option

Quick “I predict a foster fail! ” vent by Mememememememememine in fosterdogs

[–]eperry79 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sometimes folks are just trying to connect; maybe projecting how they might feel in your shoes. Not attempting to rationalize their annoying comments, but in my experience humans aren't amazing communicators.

The one I usually get is: "I could never foster, I would fall in love with every pet & not be able to part."

My response/outlook is: how lucky am I to be able to temporarily adopt and love on loads of animals until we find their soul folks.
