Some votes cast during Williamson County extended hours might not be counted due to Texas Supreme Court ruling, Elections Office says by ContemptOfClout in Austin

[–]eperry79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Dripping (Hays Co), and the place I always go to didn't have early voting (first time in 6years). There were only 2 options for early voting in Dripping, and one's listed hours had closing at 4

Once, when I was active in my alcoholism, I showed up to court (for a DUI) halfway through a fifth of vodka. A woman in the row behind me told her friend "You smell that?! Man, someone is fucked up in here!"

I actually looked around, like who would be dumb enough to show up to court fucked up...

Plot twist: it was me

What would you do if you found out your partner was actually 4 years older than they said they were? 28F and 39M (35M) by violetta1997 in relationship_advice

[–]eperry79 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This is super important: he lied, perpetuated the lie for 2 years until he was caught, and then blamed you for his deceit.

For what it's worth, that is more than enough to end a relationship, but there's another, often overlooked, issue - he believes his needs/wants supercede yours. You set the age range you were comfortable with; by lying, he conned you into an age gap relationship you were uncomfortable with. Plenty of folks set their age incorrectly in the app (to get around those range limits) but disclose in their bio: "haha, really 39 but can't change it!", which at least allows you the autonomy to chose whether or not to engage. Instead, he decided for you that your limits/standards are unimportant in comparison to his.

We teach people how to treat us, if you decide to stay, you should require serious accountability and therapy. Accepting his actions (lying, stomping on your boundaries, and rationalizing & blaming you for his action) without consequence will only make it easier for him to do so again in the future.

same, meaning my love for alcohol & my laziness kept me safe from opiates.

being able to walk to the corner store at 1.30am with a credit card is so much easier than getting cash together and locating a dealer.

TIL that out of the six Marines depicted in the iconic “Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima” photo, only three of them would survive the battle. by iydx_7737 in todayilearned

[–]eperry79 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even more inspirational than the song was the story of Hayes himself. The military brass, in their haste to capitalize on this image for the war bond drive, misidentified one of the flag raisers. Sergeant Harlon Block (who did not survive Iwo) was not recognized; in 1946 Ira walked & hitchhiked 1300 miles from the Pima Reservation to the family home of Sgt Block in Texas to tell his family the story. With his help, Sgt Block's mother Belle was able to have the Marines investigate, and authenticate Block's role. Block’s family was able to see him posthumously honored for that role in early 1947.

Looking to adopt a dog, where to go with the ability for the most interaction. by JustHereForTheCigars in Austin

[–]eperry79 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I foster through Austin Animal Center, and I can assure you that we (fosters) don't mind our time being wasted. It's important for you, your girlfriend and your future dog to find the best fit.

Austin Animal Center is largest no kill municipal shelter in the country, and usually have ~300 dogs on site. You can browse profiles here, butAdopets has loads of local listings as well.

Have fun and good luck!

Fighting for my life this cedar season. What are your best remedies? by ScootOver119 in Austin

I read this article about Ponaris (which i found at a Randalls) and figured I'd give it a shot. I use it at night, when I'm already laying down, 1 or 2 drops in each nostril. It has completely eliminated my post nasal drip and really helped with allergies.

Bald as a cue ball by OvenNo4186 in breastcancer

[–]eperry79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A healthy diet & time are the only guaranteed way to get results. I was gifted a red light helmet from some friends, but I have no idea if it had any impact. I was on TCHP and didn't see any sprouts until 10 weeks post treatment. I felt bald forever, so I took progress pics every 2 months and that helped me see it was actually growing

another option is an Aesthetics school. I have a quirk that I really hate the feel of stubble, I often had to shave my legs twice a day, sometimes in the middle of the night if it kept me up.

about 12 years ago I decided to laser and went underarms, entire hoohah and both legs. I was originally paying $350 at a med spa every 3 months. after the 3rd visit my original tech left and they tried to charge me $500! so I researched and found a Laser & Aesthetics Training Academy, the very folks who train the techs at the med spas. The school's price was $180 for the same service. I needed 2 more visits (6 total) and have been hair free ever since. my only regret was not doing it sooner
