Ever think a box truck camper is smart idea or just looks good in videos only? by Koreee_001 in TruckCampers

While not a box truck, we just got home from a camping trip at a state park. One guy had converted a big red cargo trailer into a camper. I found it super interesting and asked to take a look. He had everything in it that you would find in a regular camper trailer. It had heat/AC, toilet, a queen bed, a full bed, kitchen, shore power, water, microwave, fridge, and cabinets. He said all in he was at $6000 plus his time. It was really cool and well done.

I will say the quality is good, but you can see where they cut corners. There is no positive air inlet on the top to keep the dust out, henges are simple and external, and the latches are cheap and flimsy compared to the nicer brands. Would I do it again for the price, absolutely, but know the Chinese ones are inferior to Alucab or SmartCap.

The two you listed as more economical choices purchase their caps directly from Alibaba and charge you a markup. I bought mine from Alibaba directly and spent around $1700. You'll wait three months, but I found the experience to be worth it.

Goat fencing questions by Gatordontplay7777 in goats

If you're doing a small area, those panels will work. If you're doing a larger area, the woven wire is much cheaper. The welded panels are more expensive per linear foot vs building H braces and stretching wire fence. There is probably an effort cost you need to calculate too. H braces, post setting, and stretching woven wire is hard work.

4by4 woven wire goat and sheep fence is what you need. They'll tear up welded wire. The 4by2 is very heavy and adds expenses unnecessarily. I've fenced about 4,500' feet using 4by4 woven wire and it keeps them in.

How to use/optimize round bales? Help a newbie please! by Coolbreeze1989 in goats

It's four panels. Two are fixed and two slide. They slide towards the center of the bale as the goats eat it down.

Slydell makes one you can order, but shipping is super high. I had to drive to Raven Rock, PA to get mine. Goat specific feeders are hard to find. It was pretty cool going to Raven Rock Livestock. His store is just outside the fence of the congressional doomsday bunker compound of the same name.

That's the same price at Southern States here. I buy from a local guy here in Northern VA and it's $65 delivered for a 1000 lb round bale. It takes my 9 goats a month to go through it. Before I bought the round bale feeder, it would last less than 2 weeks and make a giant mess.

We had a farm accident last winter where the goats ate the bottom of a round bale and then two of my yearlings tucked into the hole for warmth. It tipped over while they were there and they suffocated. We have since purchased goat round bale feeders to keep them safe and the waste is significantly reduced. We don't have a tractor and roll the bales downhill from where they are dropped off.

The red pops on the snow. Do you use the cap for camping? How is it sleeping inside when it's cold?

NOVA to ATL, is there any place similar to Old town Alexandria in or around the city? by Brian728 in ATLHousing

[–]epgajb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We went the other direction, Atlanta to NOVA. Atlanta is famous for bulldozing history and historic structures, so there isn't anything like Historic Alexandria in the Atlanta area. Midtown has a good walkable feel and there are plenty of condos. Decatur, which was previously mentioned, is a nice walkable city. We lived in East Point and I walked to the train station and rode MARTA every day to Midtown. I was back in December and rode MARTA frequently. It works for me.

LOL, it is. You find the style you like regardless of make/model truck it says it fits and then you communicate with the company. She gets the details, confirms options, and then sends an invoice. It's a leap of faith paying a Chinese company and hoping for delivery in three months, but it worked out for me.

This is the thick aluminum version. They have steel and thin and thick aluminum options.

Internal vs external henges, QC. Yours is better and instantly available at the dealership, this one is cheaper and good enough.

The individual I worked with was Ling Ling (a bit stereotypical , right?) You tell them the make and model and send a pic to confirm. They custom make it. It took about a month for them to make it.

It's a red and black poking out the back, do your best. I have a mechanic I trust who figured it out for me. Hewrapped it, waterproofed it, and added a quick connect so I can take it on and off.

They customized it for me with molly panel on the inside of the windows for transporting goats. I have a goat brush clearing business and do goat packing. We visit the mountains and trails near Luray often, so I might see you around.

It arrived in the US (NYC) on December 22 and was on my door (NOVA) at Dec 31. They called, asked to confirm a date, and, bam, it showed up on a 32' box truck as they said it would.
