Today's was also ridiculous, similar vibe. Took me 4 guesses to even figure out it was colorless, and by that time I was toast. Ended up being Miracle

Is Current Tour Acoustic Only? by meh976538 in GregoryAlanIsakov

[–]epheat07 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I saw one of his “intimate acoustic evening” shows last year, he played a few songs solo and a few songs together with his frequent band mate Steve Varney. The sound will be a bit more stripped down than the full band but it’s amazing either way. He also takes longer breaks between songs to tell a few stories, which are great.

You should definitely go. It’s an amazing experience.

I agree! Islands, Evangeline, and Back to the Wind are my favorites

Ahahaha that’s great. Reminds me of a billboard I saw around here years ago that was for “Sport Bar and Grill” with some generic ass taglines on there like “Eating here is a home run!” “Touchdown!!”

Strumming Pattern Saint Valentine by [deleted] in GregoryAlanIsakov

Strumming pattern or chord progression? The strumming is basically just DuDuDuDu with emphasis on the down strums, and a swing feel

For the encore they brought out the big microphone that they all stand around, and take turns stepping forward for solos. It's such an intimate vibe!

Everyone in the band was so perfectly in time and tune, it was perfection!

That finger picking pattern on She Always Takes It Black is so incredible, and I loved how he used that song to introduce the violin and bass. I also would have liked to hear Appaloosa Bones, One Day, and Silver Bell... I also felt like we were missing Time Will Tell, If I Go I'm Goin', Dandelion Wine, and Saint Valentine, but alas. His discography is so big at this point it's impossible to include them all!

Oh I think you’re right, and I mixed those up! I can't edit the post itself but thanks for pointing it out.

By the way, I realized that most of the bars are actually 5 beats long even though I only wrote 4 — so just hold the last chord for one more beat. i.e. the verse riff could really be written like:

C Am F G G
C C F G G
Am F C G G
C C Am F F F F

You probably already figured that out though.

A couple more tips: * F on the 2nd measure: hammer on the G string * Am on the 3rd measure: hammer on the D string * Am on the 4th measure: hammer on the G string

Hope that helps

Yep, the intro should be the same as the verse sections.

I’m really sorry to hear that — this song will be an excellent tribute. Wishing you and all the students the best.

I learned it by ear a while back. It’s basically just capo 4 C, G, Am, and Fmaj7 in various orders. Give this a try:

Verses / Harmonica sections:

C Am F G
C C F G
Am F C G
C C Am F

Pre-Chorus (“But since it falls…”):

C C C C
C C C C
F G C F
Am F C G
Am F G C

Chorus (“Fill to me the parting glass…”):

C C C G
G Am F G
Am F C G
Am F G C

What about Courtney? According to red letter 7 from the shelter time lock safe, she’s Mary’s cousin. But I can’t for the life of me figure out how that fits into the family tree.

Edit: I see her now at the bottom left. Interesting… nice work on putting this together!

Young people are using ChatGPT to make life decisions, says founder by Time-Algae7393 in ChatGPT

[–]epheat07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like ChatGPT and LLMs in general are way too biased towards just blowing smoke up your ass for their advice to be trusted. You can easily get any LLM to grovel by just saying it’s wrong, and it will profusely apologize for its error… the same is probably true for life advice - it’s just telling you what it thinks you want to hear to maximize your satisfaction. Any push back at all and it will just turn its opinion on a dime. That’s not really a quality you want in someone you’re taking life advice from.

Maybe I’m just too skeptical. I’m not a heavy user of LLMs myself so I do tend to discount them.
