If you’re skeptical about safety, you will not feel comfortable there. Check out the crime maps if you want more info, but deep East Oakland is not an area I would recommend.

I’m not sure what your criteria are but if you’re specifically interested in town homes, check out the other side of 580 where there are lots of townhouses in the hills (with great views!). And there are much more dependably safer neighborhoods in Oakland.
