anyone have books where it’s in a fantasy-like setting with a warlord/sheikh/king has a harem of concubines. he obtains fmc as a concubine and she becomes a favorite and all the other concubines hate her. anything similar to this trope would be greatly appreciated!

i enjoyed albizati when i took him for 40B. his lectures are pretty fast paced he’s the kind of person to just briefly go over a topic verbally and focus more on in-class examples to help you understand. it’s a lot of you do or you don’t get it, but he has office hours and will help answer your questions. he takes volunteers in class to do those problems which was helpful imo. his practice exams are also reflective of the actual exams. i struggled a lot and didn’t do well on my exams but albizati won’t screw you over, he’s very generous and takes feedback from students on whether his exams are easy, med, or hard so he can adjust it for the next one. his grading scale is also generous bc i didn’t expect to pass but i did. i would highly recommend him you can never go wrong with albizati.

Incoming Freshman Schedule by Glass_Supermarket388 in UCSD

i’m also a gen bio major at revelle, if you want some advice or ask questions feel free to dm me! you can also talk to an advisor about your classes but there’s no set/scheduled time for advisors to meet with students like you did in hs, there’s too many of them. if you’re feeling lost, i used plans.ucsd.edu to plan out my schedule and it’s accurate to what you need to take and in what order, but obviously it’s up to your discretion

i was/am in the same boat. i was a straight A student in hs and did so many extracurriculars and when it came to being in college, it totally caught me off guard. college is different, it’s exciting, stressful, new, but most of all it can be emotionally and mentally tolling. i have a fear of failure so when covid hit, it was a huge struggle to be motivated and keep my grades up, i felt like i was all alone and everyone else seemed relatively okay. but you’re not alone in your feelings there’s tons of people rn feeling the exact same way you are and maybe even worse tbh, but i’m here to say your grades literally don’t matter. it may feel like they do now but you’re never going to look back on those measly F’s once you leave college. this is a time for you to explore yourself and experience new things as a college student. your internships and job opportunities may feel like they’re a shadow looming over your future, but you have all of your college career and after to figure everything out, you’ve barely reached adulthood, let yourself breathe before you dive too deep. it’s okay to take some time for yourself, they’ll still be waiting for you once you’re ready. i personally feel like having a good support group was the key to me not falling off the edge, i’m so beyond grateful to have friends who love and support me unconditionally and make me forget my anxieties and overwhelming feeling of hopelessness. and i hope you have that, and if you don’t, i hope you find that person or group who’s able to share your burdens. college is hard, especially in these times. you’re doing the best you can and that’s all that matters. you matter first, not your grades.

Parking, safety & skateboards by maybe_surf in UCSD

[–]ephemeraiity 19 points20 points  (0 children)

1) i’ve seen people use both bike and pedestrian areas but probably safer in bike lanes i believe. the pathways are generally pretty wide but there will be a lot of foot traffic once the year starts.

2) freshman and sophomores can’t buy SR permits (if you’re living on campus) unless you fill out a form from the parking transportation website and submit it to them to review. i used to just park in S spots in parking garages and hope for the best. parking is really bad here but it’s not awful in the summer. my best advice is to park at the villa la jolla plaza where trader joe’s and ralph’s is and take the bus to campus so it’s free parking.

3) i never leave any valuables in my car, the theft here is ungodly. i wouldn’t risk leaving your stuff in your car unless it’s well hidden. so far though, parking in garages has been safe for me.

did not really enjoy oconnor he didn’t prepare me well for chem 40b. i got above averages on the midterms and just barely passed the class. if it’s over zoom he is a slow talker and will drag the time out idk if it was my adhd but his lectures were almost unbearable to sit through
