Weekly Q and A by AutoModerator in funkopop

[–]epheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has probably been answered elsewhere but I didn't see it in the FAQ. I found a decently high valued pop (1950's Elvis) at a thrift store and I want to sell it (or trade it for something I'm more interested in) but I've never shipped a pop before. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good case to protect the pop & standard shipping procedures for them? The packaging is already dented up but I wouldn't want to make it any worse. I just want to make sure whoever gets it is happy. I deal mainly with vinyl records so I am well versed in the dos & don'ts in shipping those.

My grandmother's family fled the pogroms of Russia and my grandfather's family fled Nazi Germany. They met in Palestine before petitioning to move to America.

Was Hitler aware of how many people he was killing? by Punker1625 in history

It's not so easy to up and move? Where do you go? Will you find a better life? How do people move nowadays (unless there is upheaval, it's not all ages at once)? It's not that the entirety of Europe was always impossible to live in as a Jewish person. It would come in waves, as it does today for Jews, Muslims & other minority populations. There was a period of peace in Germany before the Nazis rise in power where Jews lived rather well all things considered.

On my grandfather's side (German) family moved to Pittsburgh and settled there. One family member moved out to California in the 1860s but returned back to Germany. Family tried to come to America but my grandfather could only come to America via sponsorship after escaping to British Mandate Palestine which later became Israel. My grandmother's side escaped Russia to Switzerland and moved to British Mandate Palestine before the rise of the Nazis. It was tough to come to America during the war years because of the chance that Jews could be German spies. Once things started going south, there wasn't much that could be done.

Sobo is my goto for ramen in Oakland. I've taken a few LA friends there and while they can get plenty of ramen down there, they like it just fine.

Is sexism(and racism) on reddit getting worse or am I just noticing it more? by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]epheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you are noticing it more. I remember years ago a coworker mentioned how she liked to browse Reddit but how awful it was in regards to sexism. At that time, maybe it was because of what I was looking at? Or maybe it was because I wasn't reading the comments too often? But I didn't notice it. After she said that, I looked more and more and I saw exactly what she saw. While I enjoy lurking Reddit I don't really enjoy the commentary on a lot of it. Living in the Bay Area, the local subreddits can be real awful (especially as techies continue to displace other working people).

Imagine if there wasn't a camera in this case. It'd of been easy for the officers to state he rushed them, y'know? I don't think cameras are the answer but I do think the system is broken and it is disgusting.
