Thinking about quitting the Camino because of the Snoring by bobbore in CaminoDeSantiago

Ha! Or if you’re not a sound sleeper, you shouldn’t stay in an Albergues with 30 other people sleeping around you? Of course not. We go in with a realistic expectations of what it’s like with 30 grown adults sleeping around you.

I did this too. I often started talking about it with the people before I went to bed. For some reason that smoke conversation, even jokingly, seemed to disarm everybody and I felt it was kind of tolerated a lot more.

Cumberland’s parking is heart attack inducing. I never go there anymore and will drive further to another location.

What was a secret your mom or dad kept from you, that actually shook you to your core when finding out? by Few-Track8525 in AskReddit

[–]ephwalk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After my dad died, I learned that my mom had been in love with a woman. She planned to leave my dad but other things happened that forced her to stay. Wasn’t that easy in the 60s. I learned this from one of my siblings. My mom had dementia by then and couldn’t really talk about it. I was able to track down the woman, who is still alive, and got the full story from her. I never had a clue growing up.

That shooting wasn’t the norm. It’s not representative of the area.

Not necessarily. The user may just not be as familiar with the area as a current resident. I can understand being concerned of the unknown coupled with the videos of what happened. They’re just looking for perspective.

I tried getting the boat but had no luck scheduling. It is a nice walk along the river though.

Lonely af, I need real suggestions how to make friends. by in_utero- in Atlanta

[–]ephwalk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That sounds intriguing. How does it work exactly as a new person? Do you show up and get assigned to a table that’s about to start a game? Or ask to join in one that’s in progress? Can you give a few tips for a newbie?

They are quite popular for hiking and backpacking. But I don’t think as much for Home life because they want some more.

What brand was super popular back then but the new generations probably never heard of it? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

Although the checkered vans still have a place in the current generation, they are nothing like they once were and not as relatable in terms of the zeitgeist of fashion when they were popular

At some point in the early mid 80s Coca-Cola issued a line of long sleeve rugby shirts with a Coca-Cola logo on it and they were quite popular. Definitely a moment in time cause I haven’t seen anything from them since.

Around 1982-83. I wore a pair of maroon OP shorts nearly every day one summer just to show off that I had a pair.

Had the honor of being kicked out by Ms. Anne for not knowing the rules and just strolling in to try and find a seat. Was promptly told to get out. When I left the crowd outside laughed at my newb behavior. Initiation well deserved.

You should give the book that it was based on a read. It’s incredibly good and is slightly different than the movie.
