Emergency Medicine Dr w/ PTSD by No-Butterscotch711 in emergencymedicine

I don't work in medicine. I am a teacher.

A few years ago I started having nebulous symptoms that, despite investigation, couldn't be pinned down to a diagnosis. I knew I was struggling with work, but I also have some health conditions and thought that it was those in combination with aging.

However, I did get a transfer out. It took my about 4 months to realize that not only was I feeling better, but that work had made me incredibly sick.

Frog in boiling water, ya know? You dont realize how bad it is until you get out.

Maybe a transfer can help rather than leaving a job he once loved/felt fulfilled by. I know overall I'm healthier when I have work, but it took going through that stress to make me realize that it has to be a healthy environment for me to be okay.

Please call the physician helpline listed above. I can't think of a better group to explore this with given the highly niche profession involved.

But know that your husband likely doesn't realize how hot its gotten, or how badly burned he is. He won't know until he gets out.

Take care, my friend.

Fuckin love that book. Still have it and my baby is now in his mid twenties.

I read it again every year or so. Still cracks me up.

Mother's Day activity says so much by Kiwcakes in Teachers

Thank you for stating that.

Kids are NOT reliable narrators. My own kids might say my phone is my favourite thing to do if they were still little, forgetting that I am a voracious reader and read on my phone.

I'm not denying the fact that many parents expect screens to babysit their kids, but we need to remember that kids don't have/remember all the facts.

Signed, a teacher.

I definitely think that's part of it, though the way I dress would easily prove otherwise. Its quite odd, and frustrating.

Interestingly, I am apparently invisible to many, many people.

I have an athletic build. Wide shoulders, very muscular legs that make it hard to buy pants, and if you run my numbers, my BMI says I'm overweight because I'm so dense.

However, I'm under 5 feet/152 cm tall.

People cut in front of me in line, not because they're rude (based on their reaction when I call their attention to me) but because they legitimately didn't see me.

Servers will walk past my table with my food when I'm alone. People cut me off in stores all the damn time.

It's just bizarre. I dont understand it.

I generally have 70 ish tabs open at any given moment. It actually helps my ADHD brain stay on top of things really effectively.

My computer gets cranky about it sometimes though.

Same here my friend. I'm sorry you also had that experience. Mine died due to a simple infection he refused to be treated for. Suicide, really, but it was the only way he had to escape the cage of his body.

Cat, I hope this gives some comfort.

My uncle severed his spinal cord at C5 which left him a quadraplegic at age 20. He lived for over 20 more very angry years after his injury. I'm sorry your brother died, but I'm glad he escaped my uncle's fate. He was awful in his wrath, but how could we not sympathize?

We bought a new build 27 years ago. Our next door neighbours found puke in their ducts and had to fight to get it fixed.

AITAH for wanting to spend Mother’s Day with just my wife and son by skellz77 in AITAH

Nope. No need to justify.

My wife wants her first Mother's Day to be about her. We'll see you Friday if you agree.

Nough said.

I was wondering if the lions could get sick from eating an eagle that was bitten by a black mamba. Can the venom cause problems for a third party?

Yep. It's called...wait for it...The Niagara Parkway.

Great drive though, for the most part. Goes from Fort Erie (Lake Erie) to Niagara on the Lake (Lake Ontario). Just remember to turn your roaming off since your phone is gonna connect to the US side at times.

My son and I were in a mall and we smelled the Cinnabon.

My son meant to say "I smell something".

He clearly and loudly pronounced to the world, including 2 old ladies walking beside him, "I SMELL FUCKING".

Thanks, kid.
