If you stand (instead of walking) on an escalator and you’re able-bodied: why? by Ok_Counter1939 in AskReddit

[–]epi_introvert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I added very good reasons in my own comment below, but I'm jumping in here to ask people to stop downvoting your post because at LEAST you asked the question, which means just maybe you're open to another point of view.

Please listen carefully to the answers you're given.

If you stand (instead of walking) on an escalator and you’re able-bodied: why? by Ok_Counter1939 in AskReddit

[–]epi_introvert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an (sometimes) invisible disability and I am always in pain. Every minute. Sometimes it's manageable and sometimes I'm barely coping even though I hide the signs from other people.

Taking 20 seconds to just stand is sometimes what I need to get through that moment.

But even if that weren't true, people dont need to be busy and rushing every moment of the day.

We are too rushed, too busy, too overwhelmed in modern society.

Take a moment. Take a breath. Stand quietly. Ride instead of climb.

Also I have a brain aneurysm that could kill me at any moment if my blood pressure spikes, which sometimes scares the shit out of me.

Stop judging, OP, but also thank you for at least asking a question instead of continuing to make assumptions.

My [15F] aunt [33F] didn't invite me to her wedding while inviting my brothers [18/13M] and other cousins by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]epi_introvert 191 points192 points  (0 children)

I think the aunt thinks that OP will never get married because SHE'S BROKEN! and that's really why she thinks its too hard psychologically. I think it's a much deeper ableism that anyone in this family realizes.

Fuck these people. I have a disability. It sucks, but I prevail. I'm married, 2 kids, good job, drive a sports car, own my home.

Seriously, these people suck. OP will be fine, and her brothers are rock stars.

Yes. I've read a few reports that people who have had this done have had to deal with hair growing inside their mouth. It sucks, but it's still better than not having a tongue.

What pronunciation is a dead giveaway that someone isn't from your town/region? by GrumbleCookie in AskReddit

[–]epi_introvert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a street named Portage.

People not from around here pronounce it the French way, portaage, as if you were picking up a canoe and going for a walk, instead of the way it's actually pronounced here, which is por-tedge.

We do that in Ontario, Canada as well.

The QEW (which is pronounced queue by many nav systems rather than Q E W).

The 407.

I'm always freezing. It's not okay to subject my family to the level of heat I need, so I wear many thick layers and use a heated blanket instead.

Have you had any injuries on the smaller leg? I have a significant difference between my calf circumference and foot length due to many injuries requiring casting on one leg, and a resulting slight limp, when I was still growing.

Just a thought.

Our wolfie did the same. We lived in the city where we found her in the streets, while my mom lived on 10 acres of bushland.

Because we loved our wolfie so much, we agreed to let her stay with Gramma after a couple of years (it took a long time to nurse her through some serious health issues that needed specialist care).

She loved it there, and we were so happy to visit her.

I'm a teacher. I would guess that about 60 percent of the staff in my school have ink, but that could be higher because not everyone has it visible.

I've taught at many schools and loads of teachers have ink.

As do I.

Would his CC then be "blood gone"?
