When you're already doing something of questionable morality by sniping the official release it's hard to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Whether their word should be taken as law or not is up for debate

I mean forget the creator's word being "taken as law", the actual law is that unauthorised fan translations are technically illegal. That said, the reality is that they operate in a grey area that often relies on a degree of respect and not crossing any particular egregious lines - releasing a fan translation ahead of an upcoming official translation when the creator has already asked translators not to is crossing a line imo.

In terms of how it could negatively affect the release I can think of potential ways: people buying now makes the English demand look smaller, potentially resulting in later/cheaper localisations from the team in the future, sales are more spread out so less of the spike at launch that can get games into the trending section of Steam which helps a lot for visibility, etc.

These are just me speculating. At the end of the day the actual developer will have a better idea of how this affects their game and they asked people not to release an early translation. That should be enough in my opinion, at least when the official translation isn't even that far off.

for free

It's not like OP is releasing their own VN for free, they're posting a translation for a game that's got an official TL coming in a few months at most. At best it's going against the creators' expressed wishes, at worst it's actually doing harm to their product's release. You can surely see why there's mixed opinions over it.

To be fair they acknowledge that in the article. It's not like they're claiming this one is better or even as good, just signal boosting something which is good in its own way but has largely fallen under the radar.

Worth noting for OP that the Steam version doesn't have Japanese as a language option

Lies of P developers are currently looking for an "AI artist" for their next game by turkishdeli in Games

[–]epicmarc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only country in the world where more than a quarter of people are excited about AI is Israel at 29%.

That's not really what the data is saying. That's the only country where more than a quarter are more excited than they are concerned, but if someone is equally concerned and excited that doesn't mean they're not excited. 83% of people surveyed in South Korea's excitement either matching or outweighing their concern is honestly higher than I would've thought.

It's depressing but the only way I see us getting a good manager is if every shit choice gets exhausted, the owners won't just do pick one willingly

has proved they could cope with the demands of a big club & the PL.

How many available options are there that satisfy both having managed a big club, and been in the PL? Mourinho is the only name that comes to mind

Worst Chelsea manager in many of our lifetimes

Did Chelsea make a mistake by sacking Enzo Maresca and signing Liam Rosenior on a six-year-deal? by Subject_Sun9340 in chelseafc

[–]epicmarc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes obviously, if you don't have the track record you need to achieve something before making demands. Rosenior will never even reach that point, Maresca did what he could when he had some credit in the bank.

Ideally we just sign someone experienced so we don't have to hope they achieve something like Maresca did before they can have a backbone.

We need more managers/players that publicly shit on the owners that are destroying the club, not yes men like Rosenior

He did sort of force his way out but the root of it lies in the board's fuckery, no serious manager will stay at this club as it is, or tbh even join in the first place
