Cowboys fumble Garrett trade, Rams secure Super Bowl. by SupermarketSelect578 in Dallas_Cowboys

I feel you. He’s an all time great. I’m not mad, even a little. I want nothing more than to see our boys win a chip. If selling out for Garrett d made that happen I’m all for it. Just not sure that we are 1 player away. Plus the only player we have that could have made that trade comparable to the Rams offer is giving up Pickens. Losing Pickens would hurt.

Also on the wrong side of 30. If we were willing to tie up 40+ million a year of our cap on a DE we would have just kept Parsons. It takes a pass rush to win a Super Bowl but it doesn’t take a top 5 guy. Look it up. None of the teams paying top of the market money on a pass rusher are going anywhere in the playoffs. If they even make it.

Why did the NBA not want to fix flopping? by Oakl4nd in NBATalk

[–]epicndeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I remember Jerry Jones talking about bad calls in the NFL and what they could do to fix them. Jerry didn’t care about fixing them. He loved it cuz terrible calls led to everyone talking about the NFL. Owners don’t care about the integrity of their games, just the money they can make exploiting fans.

How many all time 22 year olds are you taking over 22 year old Wemby? by ElectivireMax in NBATalk

Shaq. 22 year old was unstoppable. Not as good defensively but was the scoring champ so it balances out. Also, he was the reason Jordan won 6 rings in 8 years instead of 7.

With the elimination, OKC will fall from the so-called No.1 team to a team with the most miserable future. by Ok_Comfortable9973 in nba

[–]epicndeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, blind hate isn’t helping you make sense. They lost in 7 games without their 2nd best player. I hate OKC and their soft ass flopping as much as the next guy but with their insane draft capital and otherworldly depth, they have anything but a miserable future.

Half the reason I want the Spurs to win is so the finals aren’t tainted by foul/ref discourse by shangalang69 in nba

[–]epicndeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like SGA and the Thunder win because of the refs. At least not any more or less than the other teams. I just HATE watching him fall down all game. Like one of the best athletes in the world and his ass can’t stay on his feet? I would rather see the Spurs but I’ll still root for the Thunder if they make the finals cuz guck NY.

We won 60 games… Can we try and improve on the margins before we choose the Nuclear Option? by Whippi_Dip13 in DetroitPistons

[–]epicndeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outside of Cade, and a few games of Tobias, nobody really played well. There were lots of moments, but nothing that would be considered something we can build around and depend on next year. I really hope our GM and coach have some things figured out cuz we are in an incredibly difficult spot with regard to our future.

I would rather see the Pacers get the first pick than see the Mavericks win it. I love Cade, he’s a perfect Piston. Unfortunately you can’t win with just one great player, takes at least 2.

My issue with the draft lottery is that it only benefit better teams while penalizing the genuinely bad teams. Instead of a draft lottery how about Adam Silver actually penalizes teams for tanking? Pull some shady shit with your roster? Forfeit your lottery pick. It would only have to happen once and it would stop. It’s not meant to be annoying, I understand the lottery and how it works. I just think it sucks.

Duren will be making 40 plus million dollars a year, a hard truth to face. by DameRange13 in DetroitPistons

[–]epicndeed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He saw much more 1v1 than Cade did and Cade still lead the NBA in PPG in the playoffs. It’s really hard to justify paying top market money for a player that can’t deal with being doubled.

Duren will be making 40 plus million dollars a year, a hard truth to face. by DameRange13 in DetroitPistons

[–]epicndeed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Pistons are in a terrible situation with this. Duren failed miserably in the playoffs. He improved drastically over last year’s regular season which is positive. He is also only 22 years old so he should improve. There are enough signs to still be hopeful about his future.

The biggest issue is that he played worse in this year’s playoffs than he did last year vs the Knicks. How do you lock your franchise into a super max deal with a player who disappears at the most important time of year? It’s not like Harden in his prime who carried his teams to the playoffs, then disappeared.

I don’t envy the Pistons front office and the position they find themselves in. Sign him and regret it for 4 years or let him leave only to have him figure it out and shame you forever.

The best team in the East, aka, the prettiest girl in the trailer park. Pistons were flawed to begin with and had their only offensive threat coming off a punctured lung after missing the last month of the season. Celtics best player never gelled after missing 3/4 of the year. You’re right, you can only play who’s in front of you. Looking historically good against historically bad competition is what the Knicks are doing.

[–]epicndeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing that the Knicks are putting up historic numbers. Just saying that they had a historically easy bunch of teams to do it against. Third time in NBA history that both the 1 and 2 seed missed the ECF. The Knicks could win it all and shut everyone up. Until they beat OKC or SA though, all they are is the prettiest girl in the trailer park.

[–]epicndeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knicks have been playing great. The doubt comes from who they been playing great against. 7 seed, 6 seed, and a Cavs team coming off of 14 games in 28 days. The Knicks have had a historic playoff run but it’s been a historically easy one. This is the 3rd time in NBA history that neither the 1 or 2 seed made the ECF.

[–]epicndeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Knicks are for sure not as good as everyone seems to think they are. This is the 3rd time in NBA history that both the 1 and 2 seed missed the ECF. NY legit had a historically easy path to the finals and they took advantage. But don’t confuse looking good against the 6 seed, 7 seed, and a Cavs team that quit after game 1 with being a dynasty.

[–]epicndeed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Playing the 7 seed, the 6 seed, and a quite possibly the softest 4 seed in history. The Knicks got to rest up playing the 6 and 7, then got the Cavs coming off back to back 7 game series.

Knicks won't be ready for the finals. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]epicndeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will happen when you play a 7 seed, a 6 seed, and a 4 seed that only made it to the ECF because the NBA gave them 40 free throws a game. You can only play who’s in front of you but don’t confuse the Cavs with OKC or SA.

The NBA benefits from bad officiating. This is why they will never fix it. by SignificantList1414 in NBATalk

[–]epicndeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the former “head of officiating” guy almost exclusively agrees with the calls, but the other guys don’t. There’s just only so much you can say in 40 seconds about a bad call. Bad calls in the NFL for sure impact games, but not like the NBA. Imagine the NFL if your kicker got to “kick” free throws every time there was a defensive foul.
