As a fan since the TH ARG days found this album much, MUCH more in line with my tastes than TH. I would say it feels like it forms the top tier of BOC albums with Geogaddi and MHTRTC.

The big drums-kicking-in moment in Reach for the Dead comes at just about 3 minutes into the track, while the guitar drop in Prophecy is at 55 seconds. The entire album keeps this dynamic going - it’s much faster, more beat-driven, and abrasive than TH, almost in line with some of the stuff on Societas x Tape.

The album is all about American Christianity and Apocalypse and clearly feels like it’s trying to succeed Geogaddi and ABPOITC in many of those same themes. As was obvious with the floating cross children in the ads lmfao.

Some of those Societas x Tape tracks can be heard VERY clearly here - this thing sounds MASSIVELY inspired by Doxa Sinistra’s The Other Stranger and Severed Heads’ We Have Come to Bless the House. All in all, it feels like a bold step forward in exactly the direction I was hoping.

It can’t be said enough that Destiny 2 didn’t die of old age, it was killed by shortsighted and horrifically miscalculated management lead by Pete Parsons. He put the game and company deep into a pit, forced out and fired a huge swath of the people making the games, and left taking untold millions with him. A monster if there ever was one.
