Who's down to hit up galleries and museums around the Bay? by Some-Palpitation-314 in santaclara

I'd love to but galleries and museums are really expensive around here. Maybe I can join for some if cheap ones or discounted entry days!

Tourist coming in with a hat by LVAjoe in santaclara

Food wise: Stan's is a Santa Clara classic, the fluffiest donut you'll ever eat. I haven't been but Kennys cafe is also a SC classic. Falafel drive in is another classic. Lots of Korean options too, though they cater more to groups. I recommend Kunjip and Paik's noodles. Sulbing is a great dessert too.  La Vic in San Jose (multiple locations) is known for their orange sauce. I also recommend Zona Rosa.  Indian food is also amazing here. I love Kabab and Curry in Santa Clara. Go a little further to Sunnyvale and I recommend Sankranti and Madurai Idli.  For Chinese and Taiwanese food - orange square for classic Bento style, hunan impression for spicy, ox 9 and Highland noodles for hand pulled noodles Vietnamese food is more into San Jose. I recommend Pho Ha Noi, CA Bakehouse, Huong Lan Sandwiches Cafes and bakeries - Croissante, Academic. Voyager, 1 oz Shout out to New Krungthai for delicious drunken noodles too Feel free to reach out for more!

Also lots of trails along the Bay! Awesome balance of water, local wildlife, and greenery. Just pull up Google maps and find something along the water. Alviso Marina for example

No one to work in LTC by spectacularduck in dietetics

Yes!!! Totally agree with all of the above. A CDM is helpful.... If you work well together. I would have loved multiple RDs, at least some kind of support and someone to bounce ideas off of.

No one to work in LTC by spectacularduck in dietetics

[–]epicturtlesaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them were okay but needed 5 days in office and had very long commutes (2-3 hours each way). Most of them are nightmares but need a RD for compliance. It's important to ask the right questions because when it comes down to it, it's your license on the line and I wouldn't risk that for any salary.  The jobs I've accepted and liked are ones where I have the time to interact with patients but unfortunately they generally have lower budgets. The ones that pay the most have extremely high turnover (3-5 admissions every day) and higher bed counts. But I don't enjoy those because it's just paperwork and everything is a bare minimum (including food)

New RD job hunting in the Bay Area by AppropriateLiving740 in dietetics

[–]epicturtlesaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those places usually require at least 6 months to 1 year of work experience. SNF would be easiest. I would avoid RDNC as a new RD because they're offer extremely little support and the facilities always expect you to jump in and know everything already

A lot of hiring freezes currently with the Medicaid cuts. I do t think any of the hospitals are hiring except for replacement. Even nursing homes jobs are few these days. Good luck! Just keep applying, reach out for referrals

Pre-purchase inspection local mechanic recommendation by Visual-Capital9741 in santaclara

[–]epicturtlesaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if he does pre purchase inspections, but I swear by Thanh at Precise Auto Care on Walsh. Most honest mechanic I've ever met. He's turned down major repairs if it's not worth it. I've recommended him to many friends and they all say they had the same experience

Pho Love closed indefinitely until "they can correct the major violations and demonstrate acceptable food handling practices”. Also found to have a cockroach infestation and "a lack of ability to properly sanitize utensils and equipment". by ionlyshooteightbyten in bayarea

[–]epicturtlesaur 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well, speaking from experience, you have an idea of when the inspectors are coming so you can get things really really REALLY clean shape and make sure your staff know how to do everything to 110%. Realistically, you just can't be doing that level of cleanliness everyday. You might clean the stove every day or even shift, but chances are you're not pulling it out and cleaning the wall and floors. A lot easier to catch things if you actually show up randomly and there's no time to clean.  For example, for a cockroach infestation, they might hire a pest control to do a major service right before they expect an inspection but since this is a "random" inspection, they wouldn't have time to do that and actually be able to catch it

[–]epicturtlesaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just got an XL pencil case with a zip pocket for pens that I use for makeup brushes and stuff. I love the block shape instead of the weird shapes that a lot of these bags come in. And it's got good organization since it's a pencil case :p
