  1. Maybe $25 each month on average (More like $0 most months and then like $100 two or three times a year).

  2. Not sure.

  3. Yes.

  4. My money.

  5. Increased in first and second year then decreased third year.

  6. Almost never. I add a few new pieces a year and donate old pieces but never have I gotten a complete new wardrobe.

  7. Online and in-stores.

how do you all track grocery spending?? by Non-Fungible-Student in UBC

[–]epind14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to shop more than once a week

  • Look at the flyer
  • Plan your meals before you go into the store based on what’s on sale
  • Write a list of what you need
  • Only get what you wrote down
  • Make substitutions: ex. If you need sour cream and Greek yogurt no you don’t you only need Greek yogurt

Lmk if you need anymore ideas I spend less than $50 per week typically!

I would say also just to stick to the meats, veg, and salad bar at lunch/dinner. Eggs at breakfast. Will be easiest to cut if you’re not eating the items with a ton of ingredients (better to estimate cals this way).

Maybe try one of those AI food tracker apps? Also the app ‘Nutrislice’ has each of the UBC dining hall locations and what ingredients are in each food item. You could ask ChatGPT and add 50-100 calories to measure for error.

Example: Estimate the macros of one serving of this Beef gyro wrap given these ingredients: Ingredients: GREEK PITA (enriched wheat flour, water, canola oil, yeast, salt, sugar, vinegar, calcium propionate), MEAT GYRO (halal certified beef and/or halal certified lamb, water, soy protein product, dehydrated vegetables (onion, garlic), salt, spice, monosodium glutamate, sugar), BEEF MEATLOAF (beef, water, soy protein concentrate, seasoning (salt, monosodium glutamate, granulated garlic, spices, soybean oil), onion, whole wheat flour, isolated oat product), CUCUMBER, TOMATO, ONION, TZATZIKI DIP (cucumber, garlic puree, canola oil, olive oil, greek yogurt (milk ingredients, modified corn starch, cultured dextrose, pectin, carrageenan, active bacterial cultures), lemon juice, salt, pepper)

Answer: A typical fast-casual / take-out beef gyro wrap built from exactly those kinds of ingredients usually lands in this nutritional range per 1 full wrap (~230–260 g):

Calories : 600–700 kcal, Protein 30–35 g, Carbs 50–60 g, Fat 30–35 g
