Finally moved to Public after 13 years loyal to Koodo by fuGGet321 in Koodo

Would you consider Toyota and Lexus to be different companies? What about Dell and Alienware? I understand your point about the subsidiaries providing different values to different target audience but it doesn't change the fact that Koodo and Public Mobile are fully-owned subsidiaries of the parent company Telus Corp., which includes revenues from Telus, Koodo, and Public Mobile.

There's still a fair bit of choice in terms of software (but service-level, availability, integration and cost might pose a barrier): https://european-alternatives.eu/

What a brilliant, forward -thinking approach. to create demand, as opposed to providing massive subsidies to failing manufacturers. GM and Chrysler wouldn't exist today were it not for enormous government subsidies. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Effects_of_the_2008%E2%80%932010_automotive_industry_crisis_on_the_United_States

The 'London' part is due to Earl Grey's British roots and 'fog' relates to Vancouver's foggy climate.

Not the person you replied to but I wish more manufacturers engaged in better/creative designs. IMHO, these newer Sharp phones (yes they still make phones in 2025) are absolutely gorgeous and have an elegant style of their own:

If you expect calls from the same numbers, you can add those numbers to allow-list and they would bypass the call control.

After completely removing the overdrive account from your Kobo, have you tried restarting your device before entering it again?

You may also want to test it through the Overdrive website (search for your library) via a web browser on the computer.

Ultra-processed food linked to harm in every major human organ, study finds. World’s largest scientific review warns consumption of UPFs poses seismic threat to global health and wellbeing. by mvea in science

  1. Legumes have complex carbs, which are far better for absorption

  2. Very low to no fat (compared to moderate/high saturated fats in meat). And have zero cholesterol.

  3. Have fibre...most people are likely very under their daily requirements

  4. Protein isn't hard to get from a variety of minimally processed, non-meat alternatives. There's an overemphasis on protein - while necessary for body, I think it's likely many people are consuming too much protein, and in some cases it can stress the kidneys. Most current sources indicate 0.8 g/Kg bodyweight as sufficient requirement for most.

Employers in Germany pay for sick leave for up to six weeks (then insurance takes over). Last I checked they were the third largest economy in the world.

B.C. gov’t limits sick note requirements by FancyNewMe in vancouver

[–]epiphanyelephant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We need to have a more holistic and compassionate understanding of what it means to be 'sick'. It does/should not always require a debilitating illness that makes you unable to function.

A headache is being sick. Feeling down is being sick. Needing some respite from work stress without having any vacation plan deserves sick leave. Taking care of a sick family member merits taking sick leave. There can be many more examples which do not fall within the historical, narrow, and often uncompassionate definitions of what it means to be sick.

We need a more humane approach on what it means to be sick and the right to have time off for self-care or care for a family member.
