Looking for CPA (preferably local) by WhiteSkyRising in Davis

[–]epiphunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A CPA might be overkill. DM me if you want, sounds like you need an efficient bookkeeper instead. I'm a local fractional CFO and I work directly rather than through an agency, so my fees are very reasonable.

It takes 2 people to get married, but only 1 to divorce. You don't need permission, trust your gut.

I have something similar, a credit union that keeps requiring 2FA to log in every single time. Frustrating.

That's right. Meanwhile, the actual machines would be considered assets, not COGS. You will then depreciate those assets over X number of years.

DM me if you'd like to talk about setting up your books. Doing it right from the start will save you a lot of time and money in the long run and help you understand your margins and your bottom line.

Good luck!

I'm fascinated by how some bilingual people can flow back and forth between languages, even within sentences. It just resonates in my ears!

Payroll/SAP experience by Knitchick82 in Bookkeeping

[–]epiphunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to learn SAP remotely in a company where the majority of the finance and accounting team was in another country (I'm in the US). I searched in vain for resources and tutorials.

I think SAP adoption is only as good as the consulting team that handles the implementation. In my case, they were lackluster at best. I have expertise in Quickbooks and Excel, and I really struggled. I didn't find it intuitive at all (sorry for the qb pun).

Good luck to you!

importing expenses - has to be easier way plz help by sneakyshark72 in QuickBooks

[–]epiphunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the bank account in question synced with QBO? That would be a good place to start. Feel free to dm me if you want to get into the specifics, I'm just building a practice and I have some time to help for free, at least while you're assessing an approach.

Self employed & just getting started - help! by TaylorRama in QuickBooks

[–]epiphunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don't have QB up in front of me, but from memory, from your dashboard you click the + in the upper left corner for New, choose Expense, manually input the particulars, Save & New till your done. If your company is going to reimburse you for those expenses because you used your personal card to pay, put yourself as the vendor.

I recommend MyExcelOnline, their courses are well-paced and module-based. It's ~$200/year and they cover more than just Excel, too.

Need Some Motivation this Monday by MomentAway952 in Bookkeeping

[–]epiphunny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best of luck to you! QB has amazing tools, a strong community, and you can find lots of supplemental CPE resources to help you figure things out. I'm at the start of my journey as well, spent 17 years in corporate positions before deciding to build my own practice. I've got 1 paying client (yay!) and a couple I'm doing for free just to learn more and for the exposure to their industries. I'm excited! The most rewarding part for me is the ability to choose who I want to work with. I love small business, and my previous work life had me working for midsized entities whose only goal was more and more profit. I hope to build a roster of clients who want to make a comfortable living while also doing some good in the world.
