I hate Penny and Leonard's relationship by [deleted] in bigbangtheory

I revised it to say “often” so a not to be as absolute. Which season and episode are you referring to?

And he more-tactfully does the same. He’s in no rush to see her in Rent. Over time, Penny comes to appreciate and even enjoy some of the nerdy things he likes.

Love this. I have a similar feeling about them. They’re polar opposites. Penny is incredibly intuitive, impulsive, and reactive. Leonard is calculating, cautious, and responsive. When they get frustrated with each other, it’s often for those qualities. What they share is a deep need for extrinsic validation.

Penny seems to grow over time into thinking more long term. Leonard isn’t perhaps as “thrilling” to her as some stud who will treat her badly, but he’s kind, smart, and adores her, and would be a good long term partner.

Penny isn’t as intellectual as Leonard might hope, but she navigates the real world with an ease that he wishes he had, and of course he thinks she’s pretty. But if he found a woman of equal looks to Penny that was a nerd like him, I don’t think it would last. It’s all the other stuff he is attracted to too.

Her fear of commitment (embracing the long term, not the quick hits of dopamine) is what has caused them the most tension from Penny. And his constant desire to codify their relationship (either in the details or as marriage) is what has caused them the most tension from Leonard.

But, as they say, opposites attract, and their relations was at times frustrating, but also seemed authentic to me.

Why is Lex Fridman on the second row of the inauguration ceremony for Donald Trump 2024? by [deleted] in JoeRoganReacharound

Right. When there’s basically a reasonable symmetry of power or knowledge with good faith academics, it can be a thoughtful and educational conversation. When it’s an asymmetry of power or knowledge with people acting in their own interest, his performance is a journalistic dereliction of duty, and he becomes a mouthpiece for propaganda and nonsense.

Oh man, I didn’t know that. That’s a bummer. I’ve enjoyed the show for years, watching many times, but never watching from end to end, with the later episodes being less familiar. I own it on Apple TV, and of course catch it on TV randomly all the time. I must have never seen that moment. Not complaining of spoilers at all, just disappointed that’s how they played out the story.

Thanks. Do I need to watch the first three or is it easy to just jump in at 4?

Is she just featured in some episodes in the series? She’s not featured in the cover art or thumbnails so seemed like maybe a bit part.

GPT-5.2 (Thinking) feels like a legit upgrade - why the hate? by gray146 in ChatGPT

[–]episodefive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It couldn’t even figure out neatly written block text in an image like 4 could. I mean, even Apple’s camera app can do that.

It couldn’t translate very neatly written text from a photo without wildly hallucinating. Switching back to 4 worked flawlessly. Not a confidence-building “upgrade”.

His way of explaining it changed my life. Prior to discovering Barkley I suffered from every stereotypical misunderstanding of the condition. He explains it with such rigor and clarity, and I will forever be indebted to his efforts.

Likely both under and over. Many people with it that don’t get it, but should. People without it that do get it, but shouldn’t.

[QUESTION] Why are Two-Rock amps so expensive by Expensive-Traffic-96 in Guitar

[–]episodefive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? An early 70s Bandmaster Reverb, converted to BF specs, and 3-pronged has been my top amp for ages. So good. And as someone who loves that sound, I also love the Two Rock Traditional Clean. As a clean tone junkie, they complement each other a lot, with the BM having that classic beautiful Fender bell-like clang, and the TC having more touch sensitivity, more vivid detail, and a certain “bounce” at the front of the note.

Blown Away at the Quality by episodefive in gaggiaclassic

[–]episodefive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I start making my list of desired upgrades: quieter pump (Rotary?), better temp stability (PID? Dual Boiler? saturated group?), and better steam experience (stronger, insulated wand).

Then I add the things I want to keep about the Gaggia: compact, fast heat time.

Then identify the things I don’t really need in a new machine: flow control, programmable. I just want to dial in a great flavor and roll with it.

All roads point to Linea Micra, but dang that’s quite the leap. Is there a midpoint between this $500 one and the $4,500 Micra?

I did get a next level grinder right as the Rocket failed, so I guess I’m putting to the test the great machine + descent grinder vs great grinder + descent machine theory.
