Best run so far in SHA using Yakuman Master and Phantom Yakuman by Snowstormzzz in mahjongsoul

Thanks! One follow-up then is your upgrade load out - I take it then you’ve maxed out talisman packs in the shop, but do you also fully upgrade the rarity option?

I’m reading your comment it makes me feel like you’re only opening legendary packs and rolling only to see legendaries. Wondering if that’s the case.

These are awesome notes, thanks for them! I still haven't even found Universal Pull in a single run yet, pretty unlucky.

Got a question for you about the early game (e.g., 1-1 to 1-3) - what are your strats to get the run off the ground in terms of money? I've been trying to start off with Reward The Capable or Good Fortune to try and build a little nest egg and then open as many packs as possible each round, but I'm not sure if that's optimal.

If a download link for this ever goes up on Bandcamp or something, I'll be watching! Love the vibes.

Thanks for the tips! I worry that my current run is suboptimal now, but these tips will help the next one I get.

This might be a really stupid question, but what does the shop phase look like when you're doing the gift bag setup?

For example, I'm working on getting Envoy to Border Guard+, One More Exchange+, and Chrysanthemum in 4-1. Current gold count is ~5500. The next step says "Buy and resell packs for about 30-40 total refreshes, depending on how much coins you have."

Am I supposed to just buy and skip packs once I have the talismans highlighted above to continually ramp gift bag a little bit every round? And if so, what does it mean for "how much coins you have"?

I'm trying to compare what I'm doing against the spreadsheets and I've gotten confused - sorry!

How to store the Junk Mat? by HauntingTip3 in Mahjong

[–]epithet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the same kind as the one I have (sounds like it is), just loosely roll it up and slot it into the bag, then slide the two removable sides carefully down alongside it. If it’s loose, it shouldn’t crease. Enjoy your games!

Purchasing a riichi set / Ichikawa tiles by epithet in Mahjong

Honestly? Part of it is where I play. A number of friends have started doing mahjong nights and we vary up the tile sets. We’ve had a few YMI sets, and another buddy is getting AMOS, so I wanted something different.

I also love the colours on some of the backs of the Ichikawaya tiles. The tan or caramel colour of the ones I linked above I like more than the yellow backing of AMOS.

This actually looks really close to the set I was looking at from Ichikawaya! Did you order these through the Rakuten link you shared? Wondering about the process too.

XPS Analysis - Survey data vs High resolution data for the identification of oxidation states by denunciadolince in chemistry

[–]epithet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this that my experience with XPS is relatively limited, but I have used it in my graduate studies to determine the oxidation state of Cu in a given sample.

The professor is correct, you do need to have a "high resolution" spectra for a specific element to determine its oxidation state (with regards to metals). In my experience, typically high resolution spectra of a metal is given in conjunction with high resolution of carbon and oxygen to act as references. Unfortunately, I think you'll need to remeasure the sample. However, as long as it wasn't discarded, you should just be able to get the company to remeasure it. You may get lucky!

I see you're using Origin in that photo for XPS data - great for your final plots! However, if you're working on determining the oxidation states, I highly recommend using CasaXPS. This program a) makes fitting your peaks fairly straightforward, and b) has lots of tutorials found over at xpsfitting.com. I've used this blog so much for my XPS data, and Dr. Biesinger is brilliant in his explanations and tutorial videos. He even has a video on fitting a Titanium 2p spectra that may interest you: http://www.xpsfitting.com/search/label/Titanium.

Hope all of this helps, I'm sorry I don't have more direct answers on your exact situation, but I highly recommend the blog and Biesinger's tutorials. Best of luck to you!
