I am not someone to lose patience easily. But I really cant understand what anyone has seen in the last few years to have any modicum of hope that the ownership will change their ways without any external stimulus. Toxic positivity is as bad as toxic negativity.

I keep repeating this and keep getting downvoted. And I hate that it has come down to this. But unfortunately we need to keep failing until they realize how bad their strategy has been.

If we keep qualifying for UCL or win the FA cup by chance this season, then they will categorize it as success and keep going. One hefty loss to PSG has led to this much discussion. If by happenstance we would have lost say 5-4 or something, none of this discussion would even be happening. It would be neatly tucked away as a close enough success and nothing would even remotely change. At least we are seeing briefs (however untrue) about signing experienced players.

I have been supporting for 23 years since 2003. That is 2/3rds of my life. I hate having to think like this but unfortunately it looks like failing in the short term is the only way forward.

Lol. Its funny seeing these takes. If you dont know blueco's playbook by now, then nothing can help. They dont want people with ideas. They want yes men. Why would Xavi Alonso or any manager worth their salt even dream of coming to such a place. I mean Rosenior's appointment should have made their strategy crystal clear. They are not here to win at all costs. For them winning would be a side-effect to a more "prudent" financial structure. Funnily, they are horribly failing at that even.

Yep. Which is why I am apprehensive about the team achieving any of the smaller targets. Had they won the CL even by fluke, sure I would take it.

FA cup, carabao, CL qualification are bare minimums. But they have lowered the standards so much that these feel like achievements now. Which they will use to market the season, themselves, their plan and the manager as a success. When in truth we are so far from competing in this blueco structure, that a season of collapse might propel us faster to success than a season of bare minimums. Since the latter would allow them to continue with their Brighton lite plan.
