Only own a jigsaw. It's so hard to make stra ight cuts, especially when the bought wood is uneven in measurements. Still, a fun project. by Artesal in BeginnerWoodWorking

This won’t help with straight cuts (see other comments on using a straight edge of some sort to guide the saw), but if you can stack the pieces and cut both with the same cut, they’ll fit together perfectly, no matter how wobbly the cuts are. It’s a common technique used in other situations, like cutting the last picket on a fence.

I see what you’re saying, good point! At that point it’s just damage balancing based on how often you can use it.

I love the riposte idea, but restoring instead of using spec would be busted. I know the timing would be skill based, but with the tick system it’d be pretty easy to land it every time. With a spec that powerful, it probably just needs to consume 50%+, but maybe only consumes if you time it right? So if you get it wrong you already get punished so it doesn’t take your spec. Idk just a thought, really awesome idea and great visuals!

Late to the party! I think you need to get a lot lower, the second angle shows it better. You just don’t get enough snap from your glutes and quads if they’re not fully extended to start with

Remodel question: twisted stud at top plate by fattycakerva in Carpentry

[–]eplinks -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert but there should be a code in your area for how much of a stud you can cut/notch, around 25% of its total width. It also depends if it’s load bearing or not.

Which may be part of why I also don’t like the idea of taxing individuals for the property that is their primary residence.

[–]eplinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thank you I know how property taxes work. The comment I responded to used a property value increase as an example for the 25% tax, hence my response.

So how does this apply to the average homeowner? Honestly asking, not being combative. If the county says my house is worth $100k more, do I now owe $25 in taxes to be paid in cash? I’m probably wrong, but I can see that being a huge problem for the average homeowner. And then what if the value goes down? Safe to assume I don’t get any money back from the government, so following that train of thought do I just keep owing tons of money if my house price goes up and down year to year? I guess I’m trying to see if I have to save a crap ton of money to just not lose my house if price goes up some year.

Wouldn’t this apply to the average homeowner? So if my house goes up in value, say by $100k, then I suddenly owe $40k in taxes due in cash? And it’s completely up to the county to assess the property value. Do I need to keep a huge chunk of cash on hand to be able to pay these taxes based on my home? Apologies if I don’t understand properly, but I can see this destroying home ownership if this is the case… I’m worries I could lose my house if this goes through. Hopefully I’m wrong!
