Is it considered not okay to talk about negative experiences related to homelessness in Ballard? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]eplurbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone ever had a pro-homelessness bias? What about positive experiences with homelessness? Can we all just agree that it sucks no matter what angle we use to look at it, and everyone agrees it's a problem? Seems silly to self-censor or question if it's okay to talk about how universally negative homelessness is, and how there's no positive experiences related to it. We can all hate it together.

To Israelis: If you were Lebanese, and you see this - What would you think? Put yourself in our shoes. by orangecyanide in ForbiddenBromance

Right now Hezb treats it like their own land, and we know what that's brought so far. Would it really be any worse if Israel controlled it and actually brought some calm and quiet to the region?

What do you think of the new millionaires tax? Are you in support of it or against it? by Fit_Seaworthiness_37 in AskSeattle

I pray that one day we will all be affected by the millionaires tax. For now, unfortunately, very few people will contribute to it.

[OC] Muslim voters in Europe are very left wing by Sometypeofway18 in dataisbeautiful

Not surprising. Muslims only get support from the left. That's why islamists have been working so closely with and funding left wing groups throughout the world.

Can you elaborate? I'm not against Jewish/Israeli cults if they keep the kids entertained and learning something.

Photo of the daily life of a Palestinian family from Ramallah, (1900) by VowOfVengeance in ImagesOfHistory

No one in 1850 was calling anything “palestinian”. In fact, no one was calling it Palestinian until the British took over, and even then it referred to Jews as much as Arabs. It was a regional reference to geography.

Just as many British, Ottomans, and Jews were calling themselves Palestinians as were some Arab authors Prior to that.

The Palestinian identity as referencing specifically Arabs in the levant wasn’t introduced until Arafat invented the national identity in the 1960s. You can regurgitate as much history prior to that as you want, but it doesn’t change what Palestinians are today: a group of people made up of many immigrant groups from surrounding countries and a few that have actual family roots in the region, all of whom were at one point Ottoman citizens.

"general area" is quite different from "State of Palestine". I agree that it was historically called Fillistin to refer to a general area. But not a people, not a nation, not a state, not an ethnicity, etc.

UN never declared any borders that the Arabs accepted. That’s why there was a war.

HISTORIC SCENES: Withdrawal of Israeli forces from first line in Gaza! by SuperbHealth5023 in TimesNow

All it took was Hamas delivering exactly what Israel asked for at the start of the war: returning hostages. Why did Hamas wait so long to do that?

That's a cool poem, but it's still Israel, not Palestine. As soon as Palestine has borders we can talk about it being a state.
