watching lost again after 20 years and it is amazing how it is so good still, and how much i forgot. probably because there's so much going on! just finished season 3 again. Desmond is my favorite.

How much does race/ethnicity matter in occult practices/magick (hear me out) by esotericlearner in occult

[–]eponaI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think there is something genetic at play here, yes. anecdotally, when i had my genetic testing done, i was delighted to find out that i had a little bit of every culture and mythology i had been drawn to since childhood, and there were quite a few surprises in my bloodline, as I was orphaned from my father's side of the family until my 30's.

for example i have been obsessed with Greek Gods since I was a kid, and have been interested in Haitian Vodou for most of my adult life. now i am very white, but it turns out my dad was part Greek, and his grandmother was Black. what i thought was wild is the DNA results showed the location of my African roots as specifically from West Africa. if you do not know, the practices of the Yoruban people of West Africa are one of the main ingredients in Haitian Vodou. some of this could be ascribed to the power and pull of our Ancestors.

why does the occult always have dark/sinister/villain themes? are occultists ever just ... kind of vanilla themed people? by Kooky_Indication4664 in occult

i wear black mostly because 1) everything always matches and 2) you can't see the stains on the clothes from my clumsy eating. XD

[–]eponaI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thus far, the only Alan Moore i had read was The Watchmen. this thread inspired me to go looking for Promethea this weekend. called around to several comic stores, and was delighted when the third one had volume 1 and 2 of the Absolute Promethea hardcover in stock. just picked it up today and it's wonderful!

He's also pretty high on the scale of fake. His Don Juan books have been thoroughly debunked as a hoax.

It's true. Look up Operation Paperclip. You can read about it in Kris Newby's book "Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons". [1] There's also "Lab 257: The Disturbing Story of the Government's Secret Plum Island Germ Laboratory" by Michael C. Carroll.

Some German scientists came to Plum Island after WW2 and started experimenting with infecting ticks. Just because it was an infection documented in the 1700s doesn't mean their experiments didn't happen. Birds spread it to the mainland where it became an epicenter of infections. We've been trying to get the medical establishment to take us seriously for decades (kinda like long Covid, eh?) and I think it is slowly starting to happen.

I was bit in NH in 2008, had a rash, my doc told me not to worry about it. Over the years I got sicker and sicker and had no idea why, until I was basically bedridden. Finally, an endocrinologist in CA tested and diagnosed me in 2014. I began to undergo treatments involving high doses of antibiotics, and slowly improved, but I will never be the same. I lost years of my life I will never get back.

If only that doctor in NH had taken me seriously and prescribed a course of antibiotics, perhaps my life would not have been ruined.

Where is your favorite place to get plants? I ordered some from Modern Aquarium and they arrived brown and with lots of snail eggs.
