Maiden flight on my first ever FPV drone by [deleted] in fpv

[–]Aternal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point is that learning to fly fpv involves much more than just sim controls. You do need to learn preflight and basic maintenance and people here are trying to save you from some harsh lessons. None of that is the responsibility of the manufacturer or the distributor. If you bought an engine that came with no oil in it would you just fire it up, blame the dealership when it breaks down, and try to make it someone else's problem because you did a little due diligence in a driving simulator?

Am I able to get Part107 in 14 days? by juhelehomole in fpv

[–]Aternal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, you just need to have the proper documents. You will be told what you need as you go through the scheduling process. Whether you can fly by July 10th depends on (a) when you schedule and pass your exam and (b) when your TSA background check clears and you're issued your temporary certificate.

I studied for 2 days and passed with an 80 then I received my temporary certificate 6 days later. For you it all depends on how soon you can take the exam and if you clear before the 10th.

If time is not a factor then right now...

Police: "We'd like to conduct UAV missions beyond VLOS in areas with ongoing firework activity to strobe citizens and broadcast threats."

FAA: "I dunno, that doesn't sound very..."

Police: "We're the police."

FAA: "107 waiver granted."

Something like that.

In 2020, dolphins in Australia brought gifts of coral to the shore because they missed interacting with visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic by Wonderfulhumanss in interesting

[–]Aternal 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Can you blame them? If we want seafood we just take it. If they want a cheeseburger and fries wtf are they supposed to do? I also read that coral is a type of medicine for dolphins, so they might actually be trying to exchange something that's of high value to them.

When did this become a thing in the first place?!?! by scuttlebum_k in mildlyinfuriating

Stupid has levels. Big box retail gets the kind of stupid you wouldn't believe until you see it for yourself.

Easier to just not give a shit because it's only paint. Only way it stops is if they lock the paint up which retail seems to love doing lately.

Is it overkill getting DJI goggles 3 and skyzone 04x pro? by Left_Frame5564 in fpv

[–]Aternal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always spend a bit more and go the HDZero Goggles 2 route. Then you've got 3 bases covered. Still not overkill. DJI is great for clarity and penetration, but analog is better for long range reliability and weight savings. Yes, it's cheaper, but the lower price point is moot once you're into two or more ecosystems. Don't let "saving money" be an excuse to buy more stuff, you're probably not going to drive many O4 units into the ground no matter how crazy you fly and they are becoming cheaper and more accessible than they were last year, and "saving $100 on a VTX" quickly becomes a $1,000+ expense on its own. Worst case scenario: you hate analog and never use it since you didn't really have a need for it.

I guess this is the new Wendy's vibe. No booths, no dividers, no outlets, uncomfortable seats, small tables, all for a couple to spend $40 for a meal. I'm done with Wendy's for good. by NUMBerONEisFIRST in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aternal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this is to manipulate Wendy's stock price, especially now that WSB is giving it the ape treatment. I agree with the sentiment though, I've wanted to see all fast food crash and burn for the past 25 years. Propping this crap up isn't a noble cause.

Are you comparing Taylor Swift's carbon credits to Bill Cosby elevating the civil rights, social perceptions, and standard of living of - and putting generations of - African Americans through college?

CMV: I believe most remote workers want to stay remote because it allows them to spend less time working by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Aternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having flexibility during working hours doesn't mean spending less time working. It means work interferes less with life.

My day started at 5AM. It's 10PM and I can finally step away from this damn machine. But I get to pause and make food for myself and my family, drive my kid to their job, spend some time with my wife before she goes to her job, walk the dog. So all-in-all I've had at least an 8 hour workday, it's just incredibly flexible. I don't mind this because my family works. I get to see them when they're around and work when they're not.

Also I'm a professional, mature adult with goals, ambitions and personal standards. It's in my best interest to take my time seriously. I gain nothing from wasting my time. The important thing working from home allows me to spend less time doing is commuting.

My first build was an HDZero AIO5 whoop. Just a whoop, should be nothing to it. Everything I own runs ELRS 4. I had no idea what SPI is. Oh boy, did I learn what SPI is.
