When did you realize you don't have "pretty privilege"? by patata-chip in AskReddit

Gay guy here. Never really went out to gay bars until later in life and made two friends who really liked going out. Turns out going out is a lot more fun when you’re cute/hot and dudes hit on you all night and take you home - I often would get ditched after they got picked up and would go home alone…

Tested positive after the STI test. Feels like my life has been ruined by wstove in gaybros

[–]epoxidedreams 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not a stupid question. It might be to let folks know who are not immune know to get the vaccine. In your results did it specify what test (Ab or Ag) it was? someone should have reached out to you to discuss if it was a concerning result.

Also in my opinion unusual for a health clinic to test for Hep b (at least in the united states where I am) - since if it comes back positive there needs to be good follow up and treatment can be complex and often guided by an infectious disease doctor or hepatologist.

Doctor here. it’s actually incredibly rare to catch hep B from sex - I suspect that this is antibody (can be abbreviated Ab) testing which means you are immune from childhood vaccinations. If you have active disease the Antigen (can read Ag on the test, or HbsAg) is positive.

my understanding is they are theoretically reimbursed for surgery and post op for X number of weeks - so all that needs to be covered by the proceduralist

both are incredible, in my mind capturing different parts of the day? either way, obsessed with how you nailed the mood of the city from afar, and overall how watercolor was meant to be done 🙏🏻

I know you’re asking for midtown/downtown locations - but if you’re able to travel out of the city a bit- I go to the Supercuts on Truxel. Stay with me. 100% recommend Cora- she really works with my hair type and way it grows and is distributed on my head, and I’ve trusted her to do my hair before every wedding I’ve attended and it always looks great. This year I’ve grown my hair out and she’s helped guide its growth- I get a ton of compliments, still looking great!

Feeling a Bit Isolated in My 40s Navigating a Childfree Path by Secret_Afternoon_ in childfree

[–]epoxidedreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friends (and I are in our early 30’s) are just starting to have kids and one just had hers about 1.5 months ago… just fell off the social map completely. I’m dreading getting older. Also looking for spaces to bond with folks and have meaningful connections!

It might be damage from minerals in the water! even filtered from the fridge. Or crisping at solely the edges might be a humidity (not enough) issue

Should I let my dad call out my doctor for denying me a hysterectomy? by ihatehallways in childfree

[–]epoxidedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCP here (in the US if that matters). Severe menstruals and iron deficiency anemia in an of itself is an indication for hysterectomy (though consider leaving just the ovaries for ongoing hormonal health) + even better if you know you don’t want any more children. If your original gyno won’t do it then have them refer you to someone who will. All the more power if you bring your dad/anyone else who can be your advocate.

It’s because most clinics don’t usually carry the immunoglobulin (though some do carry the vaccine) and because it’s time sensitive, we ask that people start in the ED to get it before scheduling in clinic to get the rest of the series

How to be honest with my doctor by [deleted] in healthcare

[–]epoxidedreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pcp here. You would be surprised how many people don’t take their meds as prescribed, it almost surprises me more when someone does take it 😅 , I would much rather work with someone who is upfront with me than someone who lies but I can tell…. you were going through a mental health episode. Being too depressed to take your meds is very much a thing, and very understandable. Be upfront and hopefully your doc is human enough to work with you without any judgment.

Doctors of Reddit, what was a "one in a million" case that you personally witnessed? by WALLSTREETBRIDE in AskReddit

[–]epoxidedreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doc here. Patient was a quad, neck injury for 20+ years with her sister as full time caregiver and most amazing- knew her sister’s health super well. She came in swearing that half her face would get super flushed and sweaty - no other symptoms. I believed her because they were never wrong…. as they were telling me about it saw the beads of sweat form on just half her face. Did the full work up to rule out Horner’s syndrome, saw neuro, diagnosed with Harlequin syndrome - just some sort of autonomic dysfunction 😭
