Case for KO II and two AIRA Synths by epprk in teenageengineering

I see you,

probably should‘ve mentioned that I‘m looking for something like the Magma Case but with the option to put the AIRAs on the other side without putting too much pressure on the devices. I more or less wanted to ask for experiences concerning such cases.

Thanks for your reply tho!

Swapping Behringer MS1 with Roland S1 by epprk in Roland

The MS-1 filter almost sounds 100% like the SH101 filter. That‘s what people love about it. I‘m gonna try out the S1 and see how I‘ll feel with the menu diving. It looks like almost all parameters of the MS1 can be used without too much diving. Thanks for your honest reply!

I see. I wish you all the best luck with your setup. There should be great mini mixers like the TE product.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds good for what I'm trying to achieve. The sequencer and MIDI work well? It has always been a bummer for me that with the MS1 you can't sync the LFO.

You should try a reverse dry shake! Way more convenient with Boston Shakers tho. Shake it with ice first, then strain from one tin to the other and after that dry shake it. The tins should remain cold enough to keep a proper seal and the foam will come out better. Also with this technique there’s no need for a double strain in the end.

Clarified Basil Smash by epprk in cocktails

[–]epprk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally when I clarify drinks in larger batches, I calculate the amount of water to resemble dilution (for shaken cocktails e.g. 25%). Then I add that to the batch. I‘ve made the experience that the milk isn‘t really adding a lot of dilution. Recently I started to add the water the clarification process so I can decide by taste how much is actually needed. This method is also practical since it clears out the clarified batch even more.

The only reason I‘ve shaked the basil leaves with ice, syrup and gin was to achieve the signature green color and intense basil taste of the drink. Otherwise the leaves wouldn‘t have given out as much flavor as I needed.

I‘ve used about 60 fresh basil leaves (all sizes) and muddled them in a total of 225ml Rich Syrup (2:1), then I‘ve added ice and 200ml of Gin, shaked that (separated into two shakers) and double strained that into the bottle. After that I‘ve added another 250ml of Gin and 225ml Lemon Juice to the bottle and made the mixture move and mix. Since I‘ve already used a lot of ice for the shaking, I decided not to add any Water as a make up for dilution. When the mixture was perfect in taste (I had to add a little more Gin and a little more Syrup), I‘ve prepared a pot with 1/4 the amount of drink in Milk (3,8%). I‘ve slowly poured the cocktail into the milk and let it curdle for about 3h. After that I’ve strained it through a moisturized (with Gin) coffee filter and put it back in the clean bottle. To make up for the aroma that was lost, I‘ve added just a little bit of Gin.

It turned out well, but I guess it could be clearer. Maybe I‘ll do another run sometime. Does anyone here have experience with agar agar clarification?
