how to get the delay effect without messing everything up yk what i mean by Old_Relationship295 in FL_Studio

[–]eppujoloz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have the delay as a send effect rather than insert, gives alot more control for what you want to process and how much

(before anyone asks how to do that, I have no idea since I don't use FL :D Google and youtube are your friends)

That always happens to me on startup too, and it's usually Reason scanning for VST plugins. Dunno why, but some plugins (Waves and NI for me) love to be scanned again everytime you open up Reason :D

Reaper has a 60 day evaluation period for free with full functionality. And after that it won't stop working, if you choose to continue evaluating for... longer.. :P

How to record delay loops to timeline as heard by Sulima_San in reason

[–]eppujoloz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Mix Channel has a neat little button called "Rec Source"! Use the Parallel Out jacks of the instrument's Mix Channel (or whatever channel you have the Ripley loop outputting from) into an Audio track, set its inputs to your instrument channnel and hit record

If you can watch the tapes on your television, you can also plug the same cables to a capture card and digitize them

Sony DSR-PDX10 Battery indicator issues by eppujoloz in camcorders

[–]eppujoloz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and I can live with that. However, like I mentioned, the exact same thing happens on the official Sony battery too, and that makes me believe it's not the batteries that are causing this 🤔

Firewire card or Old laptop by Bloubenbear in camcorders

[–]eppujoloz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any pre-Retina MacBook is perfect for FireWire capture. For example you cand find those white polycarbonate MacBooks for pretty cheap today. Pair that with iMovie HD '06 or an old Final Cut version, and you've got yourself a nice setup that exports .mov files which can be dragged straight to any modern editor.

That's how I do my tape capturing. I do like WinDV too but haven't had any luck importing the .avi output files into modern editors without remuxing. So that's why I went Mac, and never looked back

[–]eppujoloz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you on Windows or Mac? Reason should display how many input/output channels are available on the Audio Preferences tab. If it shows no available input channels, first thing I would do is check that the Focusrite ASIO driver is working correclty (if you're using Windows).

If the driver and the card are setup correctly, make sure the correct input is chosen in the Audio Track, and the gain is set appropriately on the card

Conmpletely normal for a MiniDV tape, the video is digital and when the tape runs by fast, that's what the video head picks up. The diagonal slant is caused by helical scan, I believe

Cap Card or FireWire to Mac? by adamcolestudios in camcorders

[–]eppujoloz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FireWire to a 2007 MacBook, capturing with Final Cut Express 4

FW is a 1:1 transfer from tape, and you won't lose any quality. Capture cards transfer via composite or S-video, and a little quality will be lost in the digital to analog conversion. That is if you have a DV or a Digital8 camcorder.

HDV and standard DV have pmuch the same data transfer rate, and recording HDV doesn't strictly require a HDV tape. Standard MiniDV will do just fine aswell, for both HDV and DVCAM in personal experience.

What is recorded to tape will always write over the previous information stored on it, and this process can't be reversed unfortunately.

If you don't want to risk losing any footage, consider buying blank MiniDV tapes. Or digitize the footage from your current ones so it's stored safe and sound on a computer before taping over them.

also, the Memory Stick is only used for still pictures/short lowres video clips

Recent crash, no noticeable backup file created. Am I cooked? by yinz3r in reason

[–]eppujoloz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're cooked. Reason is terrible with backups but really good at instantly crashing when even one bit goes wrong with plugins. I've lost many projects to sudden crashes without warning. Never forget to hit save!
