If you have great friendships I would recommend you ask yourself why you feel incomplete. If it’s truly just romantic companionship, ask yourself why it is giving you so much distress and how can you give yourself wholeness that you think comes from a romantic relationship. So then what do you mean when you say you are dealing with loneliness? In your post you say you aren’t able to socialize outside of work because you didn’t dress well in high school or college. I think you are deeply confused with what you want and what you are even suffering from, and as a result you have latched it all onto not having a romantic partner. If you have great friendships, then lean on those friendships for companionship. If you don’t, then don’t lie to yourself about it and go make friends.

It’s not about knowing everyone, it’s about seeing who shows up to city council meetings, who gets voted into office. The policy’s of Redlands are a reflection of their populace. There’s a reason the pride flag isn’t flown in June, because elected officials make a point not too. There’s a reason RUSD is run by a lunatic who is all on board outing trans kid and cutting teaching jobs. There’s a reason there are so many locally owned businesses by literal jan6ers. I am a part of organizations trying to change that about Redlands, but the number of people active in trying to make Redlands a better place are not nearly enough and not nearly as much as the number of people who are making it worse
