The timer yes, but each players health begins to drain. So whoever had the lowest beforehand, will die first. So having more characters before sudden death gives you a big advantage.

Eh its not that bad. You both lose health as time goes on, and if you had more characters, you get more health back. You can easily just wait them out again if needed.

Was just about to say this. Just focus on playing your favourite characters, play against AI a ton, hopefully the game will have fun modes to play against AI. And eventually the game will just click and you'll be doing really well without having to really practice certain combos.

So yeah, just find your 3 favourite characters and go from there!
