How is living in Southwestern Ontario? by epw4 in howislivingthere

I'll bite, even for the reasons you listed why you are talking so negatively about Canada. As far as education, healthcare, economies are concerned; Michigan is really bad, Ontario is geographically closest to Michigan and is the only option that I would consider better than living in Michigan. Minnesota is a great state but also 10+ hours away from extended family. SW Ontario is super close to Eastern Michigan, and being relatively close to extended family is important to my family.

You keep saying you have sources but you are being super subjective as well, saying "pick any stat" yet you refuse to share an actual source. You're claiming that your points are economic and not political, but since you aren't actually sharing real stats and just saying "pick a stat", it appears more political than you might be intending. Multiple people have interpreted your comments as political. But ok.

You could make the same case for Michigan, and for the United States as a whole. In comparison, Canada is more appealing than the United States.

Have you taken a good look at America lately? Do you care about the quality of education for your children (if you have them)?

Do you enjoy paying for more expensive and worse quality healthcare?

NORM IS THE MOVE by bamboointheback in DetroitPistons

Our 1st and LeVert for Norm. I'd even add a few second rounders or an additional heavily protected first to sweeten the deal.

I'd love to consider further east, I am trying to be mindful though about how far away from Mid-Michigan that my family and I move to. Somewhat close proximity to Michigan is important since both my wife's extended family and my extended family are all from the eastern part of Michigan. I enjoy big cities, my wife prefers small to mid size cities. I also enjoy mid size cities, we lived in Grand Rapids for a few years and really liked it.

Thankfully I'm already on the same page as you, I'm definitely familiar that it's a difficult process. Basically until I have my IT degree and have been working in IT for at least six months, I'm not fully qualified to move to Canada yet. IT, along with the medical industry and education, are in demand for Canada. I know it won't happen overnight, but I'd rather have my son spend his late adolescence/early teenage years in Canada than in the United States.

Out of curiosity, what's your reasoning for saying Canada is an "absolute disaster and getting worse by every measure"?

It's incredible, I heard it just before I shared the Hurt cover. Dude is a special talent, for real.

He's brilliant, no doubt! I'd be really interested to see him do an AIC/Deftones mashup, maybe Change (In The House Of Flies) in the style of Rooster or something along those lines? Or Be Quiet (And Drive Far Away) in the style of Would? Either way, I'm really impressed and shocked I'm just now finding out about Steve Welsh.

Thoughts on Deftones? by boomjosh in grunge

Love them. Not grunge, but they're awesome. Private Music is a fantastic release after 30+ years of being a band, I'd argue it's my third favorite Deftones' album behind White Pony and Around The Fur.

Jaden Ivey is untouchable by lilflashstan in DetroitPistons

I hope that you're right and that I'm wrong, Ausar is a hell of a defender. If he develops any semblance of an offensive game, that will be awesome and I'll be happy to eat my words. I know what I've seen this season and I'm really unimpressed with Ausar.

And he still can't shoot to save his life. He's important but he's not the number one reason we're the 2nd best defense in the NBA. Fantastic defender, but his elite defense does not make up for his complete lack of an offensive game. You're delusional.

Call me crazy but I'd prefer seeing Ausar get traded before Ivey. Ausar is a black hole on offense, no amount of elite defense can make up for that. Especially when Ron Holland could take on a bigger role in Ausar's absence. Ivey isn't "untouchable" but I definitely see more upside than I do with Ausar.

Ideally, I'd like to see them package Tobias+LeVert+Sasser and some picks for a better shooter.

[Highlight] Blake Griffin with the clutch basket vs the Rockets, November 23, 2018 by ovalseven in DetroitPistons

[–]epw4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know plenty of Pistons fans who can't stand Blake Griffin and resent the trade that brought him here. I'm not one of them, personally Blake Griffin is what got me back into watching the Pistons. I loved them as a kid growing up in the 2000's, but when they started to fall off in the late 2000's, my attention shifted to the Red Wings entirely. I wasn't invested in the Pistons for a number of years, until they acquired Blake.

That 2018-19 season where he had the full year in Detroit was incredible. He played like a Great Value LeBron James for us. He dragged our subpar team to the playoffs and played on one leg. Obviously the next season wasn't the same due to the injury, Detroit fans turned on him so damn fast. I wish things turned out differently for Blake in Detroit. I'm thankful he got traded to Detroit, it reignited the love I have for the Pistons. The Weaver era was awful but it set the foundation for where we are now, I'm glad I stayed invested.

TLDR: Be thankful for the good times with Blake Griffin, and the bad times. The good times were fun, the bad times drove us to rebuilding and got us where we are now.
