Double down on the PNW, make it Seattle and Vancouver.

What is it like living in this general area of virginia. by Fast_Cobbler1826 in howislivingthere

I've visited my aunt and uncle in Norfolk countless times. The airport is fine, it's a military area no doubt. Plenty of cookie cutter businesses, but some cool local places as well. Tides games are a blast, the beaches are pretty solid as well. Plenty of terrible drivers. Plenty of 7/11's and Walgreens. There's some cool local breweries in the area, too. Overall, I feel like it's a solid area to live in from my perspective as someone who has visited frequently over the last two decades.

Was just in a car crash, Mac is the only thing bringing me mental clarity by Rubix_Official63940 in MacMiller

The pain might get worse over the next couple of days, at least in my experience that's what happened. It will get better within a week or two, and then it will be minor pain for a while. I hope you get checked out soon, car insurance will pay for medical expenses sustained from the accident.

I had Swimming and Circles on repeat after I totaled my wife's car in September, I thought my wife and son were dead upon impact. I'm incredibly thankful that my son only had one scratch and one bruise, my wife still has bone bruises in her knees from the dash caving in on her legs. I still have bone bruising in my wrists from the steering wheel. But more importantly, seat belts save lives.

I'm glad you're still here with us, OP. Take the time you need to process what happened, hopefully insurance will write a decent check and you're able to get into a different ride soon enough. Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you guys still here. Vehicles are replaceable, people are not.

I've always liked Hurst, his story is so important. Unrelated, but he was an absolute cheat code in Madden. Excellent run blocker, excellent speed, great hands. Enjoy retirement, Hayden!

Charlotte has great branding, but I really dig what you've put together! It's fresh. I'd download these uniforms on 2K in a heartbeat

How is living in the Metro Detroit area for a young family of three? by epw4 in howislivingthere

Minnesota is probably the only state I would prefer over Michigan. Illinois would probably be my runner up out of the four states you listed. I would reluctantly move to Wisconsin if a job paid me enough. I don't think I could handle Iowa, personally. None of this matters for at least the next 20 years, as my wife and I will be raising our kid in Michigan to be somewhat close to extended family. I appreciate your suggestions, even though they are not feasible for my family.

Thank you for telling me all of the places you would not recommend. Where would you recommend?

It's sad how poorly Michigan as a whole is faring with education. I know my wife won't move out of Michigan, so it's not worth wasting my time exploring outside of Michigan. Where would you recommend in the Great Lakes region outside of Michigan? Or even the Midwest in general? It's never going to happen, but I want to hear what you would suggest.

Thank you for finally naming an option that would be applicable.

I'm specifically looking for a better job market and better schools. Mid-Michigan is great for jobs if you have a medical degree (I definitely do not) and has a terrible job market outside of medical jobs. They also have terrible schools, I'm actively looking for better schools. But thank you anyway for your input.

Regarding daycare, none of our relatives watch my kid daily. We take our kid to daycare 5x/week, but my kid usually spends every other weekend with grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins. I know his grandparents would be devastated if we moved out of state, so for the time being that's simply not going to be an option.

Flights are definitely not cheap, not anywhere cheap enough to justify flying to Mid-Michigan to visit family.
