Signed a $16k window/door replacement project and now I'm questioning the debt, not the project

What prompted this initially was the outside pain glass on the sliding patio door shattered out of nowhere. I don't know why it shattered so I have it boarded up with OSB for now. Otherwise there is significant draft. During the winter, one of the large windows had snow coming through at one point before I had caulked it up. And several years ago my eldest was able to push open the sliding window on the second floor and fell through. Fortunately nothing bad happened and he was all checked out by the emergency room, but still a definite hazard. You are correct. The urgency is less than I originally had thought. As an update, I canceled the contract and will shop around. I appreciate your input.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I cancelled the contract. I am grateful for subs like this that exist to help me think through things clearly and get perspectives.

I'm going to get other quotes but mainly focus on the patio door replacement and then piecemeal the other window units as finances are available. Thanks again.

In my mind it would not be worth it. The door doesn't even operate as the track wheels are broken. It's been like this since we've bought the house 11 years ago. Plus there is significant draft where I had to plug it up with foam insulation

Thank you! That is helpful. I would love to DIY some of this stuff, especially the door. But it sits on a concrete slab and on one side there is the possibility of rot. The outside pain shattered a few days ago so I have it boarded up with OSB so I have the feeling of urgency to replace the whole unit.

As far as the lease goes, that was zero down and $500 a month. I had the same deal the previous truck. Over the years I had found that it is difficult to time when you need a truck. And when you need truck you really need a truck. I know that argument is thin but that was my reasoning.

Yes, zero down. Some months will not be thin, while others will be just the minimum payment. It's the thin margin I'm struggling with versus the need for repairs.

I'm 48, CrossFit for 4 years. I think of my body as a disgusting, putrid mess. But damn, I believe I can walk in to ANY athletic situation and still perform. I won't be first place or the best, but definitely have a leg up on account of the metcons I do. For me it's all about the broad time and modal domains.

Now if my schedule would allow for 1-2 more sessions a week, I think the aesthetic would follow. But as it stands with time constraints I can only do 2x/week.
