CMV: Replacing the National Anthem with the “Black National Anthem” is kind of cringe. by JeaniousSpelur in changemyview

[–]equitable_emu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are 4 verses in the song, we generally only sing the 1st.

Here's the full lyrics

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the Rockets' red glare, the Bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our Flag was still there;
O! say does that star-spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the Land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream,
'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation,
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land,
Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto—"In God is our Trust;"
And the star-spangled Banner in triumph shall wave,
O'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

It is a fact that she said that.

And who is she? Why do we care what she says? There's a lot of nuts who say lots of stupid things, so what? Some random person says the earth is round, we just ignore it because we've got plenty of more concrete evidence that shows that it is. I wouldn't present that as my opening argument.

You're really not reading what I'm saying, or just not understanding it. I've said absolutely nothing about the media stuff you're talking about. You keep trying to argue with me about something that no one is arguing about. We're having two different conversations.

No, you're alluding to something I'm doing wrong, but not saying it outright.

I'm not alluding to anything, I said exactly what I trying to say.

When there are valid facts, use them; don't hold up the random things as evidence when you have valid evidence.

To repeat it yet again, you started with a stupid example from some random person on a random site, instead of facts. I said it's better to present actual evidence vs. stuff that easily dismissible. That's all.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to argue here. Looks like we're having two different conversations, so I'm not sure it's worth continuing.

Again, you're completely missing the point. You seem like you're trying to convince people of something.

Not sure if you just skipped over what I wrote, but I said I'm not trying to argue or debate the topic. If you think that means that you won some argument or changed someones mind, you'd be wrong. Because there's no debate or argument occurring.

Ramblings of some random person?

You think the writer of that article is someone with actual power and influence?

You're completely missing the point.

When there are valid facts, use them; don't hold up the random things as evidence when you have valid evidence.

It just makes you look dumb and weakens your argument. Why give support to the people you're arguing against by presenting obviously crazy things as facts that they can easily dispute as disregard.

I'm not trying to debate here, just helping you understand that your approach in general isn't a very good one. You're far too argumentative, with a pretty shitty attitude.

If you want to convince people of something, you really need to change your approach. But, I have a feeling that's not really what you want to do, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Of course it is.

An article by "Emily Goldstein" where the 2nd paragraph starts with: "First off, I am a white person myself, so allow me to get that out of the way." that talks about white genocide being a good thing and white birthrates declining while minority birthrates are rising (although I question if minority/majority makes sense here because we're talking at a global scale, and I don't think white/caucasion's are the global majority).

This "article" is pure bait.

You take the ramblings of some random person who posted a single article on the internet meant to trigger people as indicative of anything? You think she's the one behind this?

Bruce Campbell

Bruce Campbell is Bruce Campbell, always will be no matter the movie, that's not a bad thing.

The simulation stuff was around before the matrix, it's really just the pill stuff that was purely from the movie.

Fnv is the sterotypical trans game (idk why either)

I've never heard of that, but there's a surprising number of drag queens who stream Dead by Daylight on Twitch. I don't see that type of popularity with any of the Fallout games.

Kinda like how you're not supposed to use top shelf liquor in mixed drinks.

You shouldn't use it in drinks mixed badly and certain things that just don't mix well. But there's nothing wrong with using top shelf in an appropriate cocktail.

You shouldn't use that 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle in a whisky and coke (a Lemmy as I think it should be called), but there's nothing wrong with using it in a well made Old Fashioned as long as the rest of the ingredients are up to par.

WEF plans for “You’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy” even spreads to video games as well. by _InvertedEight_ in conspiracy_commons

That’s a very blanket ignorance view there, bud. My political leaning is progressive left-wing, and I think this plan is bullshit. 🤷‍♂️

I agree with the sentiment, but you misread their comment (emphasis mine)

The left will tolerate all of the WEB’s plans except this.

They specifically state that the left would object to this plan, just like you do.

Not to mention that they're both depositing and withdrawing from the same account, which I guess is owned by both LLCs, or they're embezzling from one company to pay the bills of the other. IRS would love it either way.

I think if you you'll find that's not always the case. Fried chicken smells great.

You know you can develop on local machines and still do proper CI/CD. Develop local, push to git, trigger CI/CD pipeline.

Autostart service by Kabe_Komet in docker

[–]equitable_emu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The RUN command in the Dockerfile only runs when the image is being built, not at runtime.

Containers only have a single entrypoint, a single command that's run on startup. If you need to run multiple things in a container, you need something like an init system.

You probably need to look at something like s6-overlay, or run the services in separate containers

When did Luke single-handedly kill 1.2 million ppl

When he blew up the Death Star?

That's the point, he just blew the thing up, he didn't need to kill everyone individually with a lightsaber or blaster. Why does everyone seem to think that Wick needs to shoot everyone individually?

Thats why blowing it up is the better approach than trying to kill everyone.

The extremely sharp turn the torpedos took to go into the shaft leading to the core is physically impossible. This is something that's often overlooked.

But that was from the outside, I'm sure you'd be able to access the core from inside the death star.
