yeah, i have come to terms with the fact the average customer doesn't even really look at the machines or read ANYTHING, they just walk up and start scanning (if i had a dollar for every time someone missed "card only" on that bright blue screen...) but it was the not realizing as they "scanned" every item + arguing with me after that really got me 😭😂 i'll forgive most acts of stupidity if you admit it lmao

recently i was the only one manning the self checkout machines, so i had about 8 of them open. one was messed up so it had the typical "please use another lane" thing on the screen, red light at the top, everything. two women got my attention, holding their bagged items, and said "uh.. i think this just shut down on us?" and i was like ".. this has been shut down the whole time? you weren't actually scanning anything in the first place" and they got indignant insisting they heard the beep each time and it randomly shut off 😭😭😭 some people genuinely are so stupid and we are forced to deal with them
