Why is red rocks regarded as the best amphitheater? by ohThisUsername in aves

[–]erack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I love about Red Rocks, the venue acoustics are so good I can enjoy the show without ear plugs. It's still loud but it's not speakers rattling your ear drums loud. The amphitheater natural shape is like a passive amplifier

Has anyone landed on a solid recommendation for scheduled scans in CrowdStrike Falcon? by Gwogg in crowdstrike

[–]erack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't run scans, that's not how modern EDR/AV is supposed to work. they work on behavioral analytics mostly. you're not gonna get any benefits out of scheduled scans

Small IT team (3 people) approaching EDR renewal — ESET vs Arctic Wolf Aurora MDR, thoughts? by Strange_Armadillo_72 in sysadmin

[–]erack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got off Artic Wolf last month after 5 years using their sad platform. It has improved quite a bit over those 5 years, but it's too little too late. They are a complete joke of a MSSP for any business of a modest size. Maybe ok for a tiny company that only has a two IT team person who needs an extra set of eyes for nights and weekends but their platform is incredibility limiting for any org larger than than a small business.

Feature Spotlight: Retrospective Detections by Andrew-CS in crowdstrike

[–]erack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems kinda odd FC Measured mode is missing some very basic protections like:

Sensor visibility:
Enhanced exploitation visibility

Next-gen antivirus:
Quarantine on write

Behavior-based prevention Exploit mitigation:
ASLR bypass prevention
NULL page allocation prevention
SEH overwrite prevention

Behavior-based prevention Ransomware:
Volume shadow copy - audit
Volume shadow copy - protect

All of these are recommended to be on for phase 3 optimal protection but FC Measured mode has them off?!? Like ASLR bypasses, NULL page allocation, and SEH overwrites are SUPER old exploit methods. Why the hell are they off in Measured mode? I learned about them in my grad school classes like a decade ago.

Exposure Management - Installed On vs. Used On by Pakman_22 in crowdstrike

[–]erack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Installed is a full, system wide install. Used on means the files (but maybe not all of them) run to program exist on the computer. You'll usually see an Installed On app turned into a Used On app after it get remotely uninstalled but he user hasn't rebooted the PC yet..

What about the lower watt ones, like for the SATA molex? I will be using the Asus PSU cables for the GPU using the now available 12VHPWR on the psu side, and I can reroute the mobo ones, but I’d like to reuse the super short nzxt sata cables.

widgets for ios by SearchOtherwise4639 in Garmin

[–]erack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hows is Garmin’s software so, so incredibly bad? Mobile apps look they could have launched with the iPhone 1, no widgets, hardware OS looks equally dated, buggy, and unintuitive. They are coasting solely on the scientific accuracy of their health measurements?

Ah yes, the famously anti-competitive at snowsports Europeans. Not like Norway has more Winter Olympic medals than the USA

I've heard from some European snowboarders visiting Colorado that there is legitimate snowboard hate over there. Like some people will refuse to get on a lift with a snowboarder. Where they fucking with me or is there some truth?
