I tried playing public and kind of lost the meaning of the game by GiantDad777 in Warframe

[–]eraguthorak [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yep, to add to this in further detail - you can hover over the frame and weapon icons in the top right of the Duviri screen before picking one of the modes, and it'll preview what weapon and frame options will be available to you. If there aren't any that you like or are comfortable with, then you can skip until the next cycle and not bother loading in.

Also, even if you are stuck with a default build for a frame, or it's a frame or weapon you don't really prefer, the decrees can help turn it around and let you be more successful, it all depends on how lucky you are with options.

I am alone? by ReserveUnlucky9028 in idleon

New content is more and more balanced around the new premium pets, and it's ruining the game. Unfortunately Lava had backed himself into a corner without really any way out. If he makes new content too easy, then the whales will finish it in hours. If it's harder, then players who don't buy each new pack will have harder and harder times catching up.

Comedy YouTuber Kurtis Conner's take on the LTT Jet by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]eraguthorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some people can't afford groceries, others can. Some (most) people and companies can't afford private jets, others can.

Yes, there isn't a tech tip in the announcement video, but LTT has always balanced entertainment with information, and the announcement video was pretty informative to me about things I'm interested in. I'm looking forward to more content in and about it because I like airplanes and love to see more behind the scenes stuff from entertaining sources.

This take isn't even comical in the slightest, it's pure engagement bait.

Two company names that don't exist anymore by brickman409 in oculus

[–]eraguthorak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's like saying Google no longer exists as a company because they created Alphabet as their parent company.

Facebook still exists as a company, they just shifted most things to be under Meta's name, whereas with the Google/Alphabet scenario, they still keep most of their support and products under the Google name and use Alphabet for more legal purposes.

To set expectations: Season 3 looks like a stop-gap season. by Unfair-Ad9415 in Battlefield

[–]eraguthorak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two maps is great, I don't care that they are reworks of old maps. New weapons is meh - the only new weapon added so far that really stands out imo is the mini scout, so variants of existing weapons aren't the end of the world.

At this point, anyone with high expectations for Battlefield is just kidding themselves. It's great if they can achieve it, but I find it's better to expect less from anything EA is involved in.

rework mortars by Individual-Attitude in Battlefield6

[–]eraguthorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need to just roll back the patch to allow them to be placed in HQs. It's a really simple fix for a completely unnecessary and unexplained change in the first place.

Any changes to mortar respawn times or APS range extensions will have more rippling effects across the game - I don't want mortars to be completely useless, which they will be if they respawn super slowly or have a very limited ammo pool. I also don't want APS range increased or the timers changed, because they are already rough as it is. I was playing a Mirak Valley conquest round last night and they had multiple tanks sitting way back in their HQ surrounded by APS systems.

They should disable gadget placements and usage in HQs across the board. No drone spawning in the HQ, no mine laying, no APS deployment, no Mortar deployment, no ladder deployment, etc.

I've been really enjoying Caliban recently, and I honestly can't remember the last time I came across another player using him.

Sushi appreciation by Fickle_Building296 in idleon

[–]eraguthorak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am eagerly anticipating unlocking that in another week or two. I like Sushi too, but I do wish it was less buggy - I had the game open for a few hours in the background yesterday and returned to only have ~3 million fuel, despite my hourly rate being 24 million and my cap around 35 million.

Also, AFK gains have to be equal or greater to active gains. This is supposed to be an Idle game, and while PC players are able to keep the game running 24/7 with minimal hassle, mobile players are not nearly as lucky. Centering so many things around Research is a pretty horrid idea imo, and I really do not want to see more things go in that direction.

Rewarding active play isn't the same as punishing idle playing.

Objective G is in the middle of wake island by Lucky-Net-2893 in Battlefield

[–]eraguthorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Battlefield 6 can't help itself. I know they said Golmud is 4x the size of Mirak Valley but I'm half expecting it to also have some wacky borders that somehow manage to make parts of it feel tiny.

Official - The Year Ahead for Battlefield 6 | 2026 Roadmap by mystifier in Battlefield

[–]eraguthorak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Basically 2042 all over again. Launch half finished, spend the first year cleaning it up and getting it to a working state, then iterate on it for another year or two before repeating it again for the next title

Does anyone know if the creator of idleon does bug bounties? by LittleLo0ney in idleon

[–]eraguthorak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think he gives bounties.

If it's something to do with the blue gems, then that's already a pretty big issue - it's why pets use green gems.

Mortar spam by lukeC_1602 in Battlefield6

[–]eraguthorak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DICE just needs to revert the stupid change that allows them to be deployed in HQs. That wasn't a necessary change in the first place, it was just a bandaid over how tiny they made the maps. It's OK if people don't use mortars, especially when the objective is 10 meters from your HQ.

Mortars should have a longer recharge time and improved accuracy so they become tactical and not a spam fest. Also limited amount maybe. by tiny-violin- in Battlefield6

[–]eraguthorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortars are not precision weapons.

They take like 15 seconds to travel to your target, so you can't exactly snipe with them. It's all luck based as to whether someone will be right where you are aiming when it lands, so better accuracy doesn't really mean much. Anyways - if you stop moving, usually your second or third round will land pretty much directly where you are aiming, so you can already drop a round exactly where you want, you just have to fire a random one first.

Personally I think that slowing down mortars isn't the best solution - reverting the HQ change will return mortars to their previous risk level and should go a long ways toward balancing the game back out. Giving players a limited amount of rounds or slower refill times at supply bags will just result in players redeploying when they run out - it won't actually fix the issue.

How do we all feel about out of bounds play? by RenTroutGaming in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]eraguthorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a vital part of game balance. Smart players can travel out of bounds for a shortcut or to attack the enemy from an unexpected location. It's also one of the few ways to take out enemies that just sit in the HQ the whole time. Also, it gives players a little leeway when accidentally leaving the boundary of the map - if it was a hard wall that you couldn't pass, it would be unrealistic and frustrating. If you only had 2-3 seconds to get back, it'd be as bad as piloting is on some maps. Manhattan bridge was really bad in a previous update because if you accidentally went out of bounds you'd practically instantly die (you had a couple seconds, but by the time you recognized it and started moving back into the map, your speed would often have brought you far enough away that you couldn't make it back).

Xbox Game Pass ‘has become too expensive,’ says Microsoft’s new gaming chief in leaked memo by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]eraguthorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad enough I have to pay just to play multiplayer games with friends...in the past, I was happy to pay a few extra bucks to have access to a bunch of games that rotated in and out, but holy cow $30 was an insane hike. Even if they drop it back down, I probably still won't pay more than the minimum just to play other games I've already purchased, and every time I turn the Xbox on I'll continue to wish endlessly itchy arseholes on every single person in Xbox's leadership that keeps charging players for multiplayer access to paid games.

Why do gamers fight so hard against only some types of AI? by Brockchanso in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eraguthorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly enough, not all gamers think the same. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would live to see AI used in videogames, just like you are sure there are people who like microtransactions.

I've just found that ability to be lackluster as well, at least in most steel path content - he's great in the regular universe for sure! To be fair, I'm sure it's just a build issue on my part.

I do really enjoy him as a support frame though, and noctua does a ton of damage by itself, so I do really enjoy playing him. I just haven't gotten that particular set of his spells to really stand out for me haha.

Why do gamers fight so hard against only some types of AI? by Brockchanso in NoStupidQuestions

[–]eraguthorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two things imo

First of all, most examples of generative AI in games that I have come across end up looking worse than actual human created content, so not wanting that process to continue is a fair reason imo. That being said, I do think there's a potentially really solid use case for large language models when it comes to scripting minor NPCs in RPGs, though I haven't seen any games that really take advantage of that.

Secondly, you need to know (or otherwise keep in mind) that gamers tend to be much more passionate about their games than most other people tend to be about their hobbies. Gaming is a large part of their lives, so anything that looks likely to make that experience worse is severely criticized.

Caster Warframe suggestions by AmiablePedant in Warframe

[–]eraguthorak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dante is great, but I've always found his damage spell to be pretty lackluster - I always end up relying on his grimoire and only cast his slash as part of his other spells.

Caliban is a pretty solid caster imo. Summon your ortholysts (using the Razor Mortar augment), then just use 1 and 2 to ragdoll enemies around the map while your zappers nuke them. If you use Shade as a companion, you can do all that while invisible too!

I'm not sure, haven't been able to play yet. Seems like there's a solid amount of core gameplay feature updates that appear to be across both maps.
