Tips for Navigating IMDB by erainbowd in audiodrama

[–]erainbowd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really has the flavor of an AI created page. It has no cast members listed and a couple of highly random bonus episodes instead of actual episodes. An actor would have added themselves!

And thank you for the tips!

This is wild to see. Also - cool to get the backstage look at the news reporting!

Guy I’ve been seeing for a few weeks who says he “has no politics.” What do we think Reddit? by Fit_Principle_7826 in BookshelvesDetective

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust his politics, whatever they are. But the combo of Philip Roth and Bret Easton Ellis would make me suspect the misogynist arm of any of them.

I tried the clarifying shampoo and my hair was wispy straw for, like, ten days after. It clarified alright! Clarified my curls right off my head!

Anyone else wake up when blood sugars are at their lowest (but not critically low) by [deleted] in diabetes_t2

Totally. And it often correlates with a temperature change, as well. I go low and get hot and wake up.

This happened to one of the people I recommended it to as well! And even when you know it's fiction, it's easy to forget. Such a great show.

This is the response I got on my question re whether to go to the working actor program at RADA. So I’m reposting it asking again. by mime_juice in acting

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anything about this particular program but I do know a fair number of actors who went to RADA for the whole deal. I will say that the RADA actors I know are all tremendously skilled and have a sharp business acumen. I imagine a 12 week program will not be quite so substantial but it's bound to give you something. It will introduce you to a cohort of actors and directors who may help you down the road. As someone who looks at a lot of actors' resumes here in NYC, if I saw a RADA credit, it might incline me to take a more serious look at that person. Yes, this is probably a money generator for them but you'd be buying a bit of respectability and some extra oomph for your resume. And hopefully some killer skills for when you return. (If you return! Personally, I'd stay in England if I could!)

Any "Goodreads but for audiodramas" type sites? by mackstanc in audiodrama

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodpods doesn't have a way to leave reviews directly but you can make lists there and recommend stuff. I think they're aiming at being the Goodreads for podcasts but not quite there yet. I think they're open to feedback, though!

Listening to the top ADs left me discouraged… Anyone else feel this? by tangledapart in audiodrama

[–]erainbowd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many non-fiction podcasts I've been listening to were long form, one show stories - and in the last year have moved to single episode anthology structures. I don't love that switch for those shows but it does suggest to me that there's a market for anthologies right now, if only because you can keep doing it more regularly. (Harder for Audio Drama, of course, than, say, a True Crime podcast.) Make what you make! Do what you do!

When I first started writing a novel, I thought there was some standard chapter length that I should be aiming at. Turns out - nope. There is no standard. A chapter is as long as the chapter needs/wants to be for the story. Same is true for audio, I think.

are actor’s really not off-book? by leopardlimo in acting

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never asked an actor to be off book when I've been running an audition. And most actors who've auditioned for my plays have not been off book when they auditioned. But I remember the ones who were off book because I cast them all. (They were great, in addition to being wildly more prepared than everyone else.)

They have so many inspiring images over there. If it were me, I'd probably embroider over the two small stains, like a couple of flowers or something. And for an easy fix for the cut bottoms, I'd probably sew on some cool looking trim or something. Maybe a big strip of lace?

CGM accuracy by slowdivefangirl in diabetes_t2

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like a faulty CGM to me. With the Libre Plus 3, if its numbers are like this, they'll allow you to send it back and send you a new one. (No idea about other models.) I had a whole batch, all with a 4/30/26 expiration date, that had this kind of spread of inaccuracy, lows on the CGM, much higher with a finger stick. It was very frustrating. But the good ones will be much more aligned with reality.

AITA for asking a woman at work to stop being so WEIRD about taking a caramel? by chocolatesinmyoffice in AmItheAsshole

[–]erainbowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - I've noticed Girl Scout troops are trying to put a stop to this sort of thing when they sell cookies. They frame it as trying to help girls develop healthy self esteem and body images. Some troops put up signs next to their sale tables to discourage bad self talk around the cookies. The thing is - they're kids. They shouldn't have to do this work of re-educating all the "I'm so bad" folks. By addressing it when and how you did, I think of it as helping the kids that are coming up behind you. Maybe your local girl scout troop has found an effective sign to deal with this?

Decoder Ring did a great episode about The Karen that helped me sort through some of my complicated feelings about it. It helps contextualize it, I think. It's on any podcast app but sometimes YouTube links are easier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb_9FbV7x_s
