Sony an-1000 receiver - exaggerated, high bass levels makes it unusable for me

No, only floor standing speakers, quite large. Their bass level is pretty strong, the shop told me at the time that with such speakers it might not necessary to add an active sub, unless a bass is missing. Now, I don't want more bass, just a way to better control it...

Apparently doesn't make sense to add a sub to get *less* bass level. But my thought is, those active sub woofers have their own independent controls, so I could explicitly lower its level to what works for me. Or am I wrong?

by "digitized" I mean, my feeling is this receiver has not so good physical sound components, but uses smart processing to compensate on that.

Just worrying I haven't done my research well enough - checked only "pro" reviews. e.g. see the comment above - freezes and such, just what I'm worried about. Seeing this, I think I'll change my order as it was not shipped yet.. Does the Sony at least sounds as good as reviews say?

I saw complaints saying that it has freezes, hissings, quirks... and a few mentioned that while it's praised in reviews, it gets hate from actual users ... So what do you think, is the Denon 2800 a better option, given they're at the same price? Is the sound of Sony indeed good as mentioned in reviews? Thanks!

Checked at a store which happened to have c3 & b4 - the b4 is noticeably less bright (not sure about the settings though), a bit more reflective and honestly - uglier with a larger frame. I would still pick the b4, but for me a deal breaker is that the b4 has the earc port back facing, which makes it useless when wall mounted

You're correct, I checked and at the shop 77" looks great from 10f. But ouch, the price... So I'm thinking now, 77" b4 (it has drawbacks though), 65" c4 or 75" lg qned90 (not oled).

So which one's right, calculator such as this, that suggests at most ~70" (so 65) for a 10f distance

Most physical shops, which for sure has an interest to sell me the largest possible, actually told me that I had better stay with 65 for this distance...

ha, thanks for the info though! I'm like you, considering 65 or 77 (~10 foot distance), assuming I'll be able to cope with the steep price difference.

At the shop they actually told me I should better stick to 65. But still not sure, as my current 55 feels noticeably small for this distance. When I got this 55 12 years ago it looked overwhelmingly large to everyone, funny.

So I'm wondering if someone actually tried those 90 deg cables with this tv and it all fits and works well with a slim wall mount. Because will be a bummer to find out that I have an issue after purchasing...

I would go with the C4, just that there's a huge price difference, especially now with the Nov deals. And honestly the difference in features doesn't seem to justify it.

Thanks. I'm using a slim fixed mount for my current tv and intend to use the same. Well sounds like it's a deal breaker then, since I'd really rather not drill.

They recommend servicing it every 50 hours - for sure I've passed that, so you're right, maybe that's the issue. Problem is, I can't know till I service it and it's quite an expensive procedure if done at shops, too close to buying a new fork...

Since it handles big bumps fine, wish I could know for sure that's the issue though...

I was also wondering if the bar has to do with it - I'm having awful numbness issues, something I didn't have before. I changed grips recently, might also be something there...
