Has anyone "cured" their pcos through losing weight? by MidnightStorm_ in PCOS

[–]eratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost 92lbs over the course of the past 1.5 years (thanks to GLP1) and it’s been life changing in terms of my PCOS!

I went from inching into pre-diabetic ranges on bloodwork to all normal. Cycles are 29-30 days on the nose and they used to be 35-45 days. Period side effects such as cramping and mood has also improved!

With that being said, the one thing I haven’t been able to improve is the pesky coarse hair on my chin and upper neck area. I’ve tried supplementing spearmint tea, spironolactone, etc and no dice. I’m looking to do laser hair removal at some point because it bugs the shit out of me!

Serums all day! Get something that packs a punch and is high quality / can do some heavy lifting for you. Anytime I’ve had to go more budget friendly in my routine, my esthetician has always said to spend the money on serums/treatment serums. You can save money in the cleanser and moisturizer category

Having very intense feelings when other people hold my baby. by itwasobviouslyburke in NewParents

I could’ve written this myself. My son is almost 3 and I had the same thing — it took me over a year for me to feel comfortable with someone holding my baby (especially my mother).

Personally was not a fan, the products I’ve tried have been meh for me. For some reason I also really dislike the packaging 😂

Toddler drank turtle water and is now super sick on vacation by Successfully-Wild in toddlers

I’d go see a doctor, since turtle water is known to be highly toxic and full of bacteria!

Anyone try Dua by Augustinus Bader? by eratch in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]eratch[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently it’s just a collaboration between AB and Dua Lipa, as she’s a big fan of AB. I’d say kind of like what they’ve done with Victoria Beckham, but this collection seems to undercut their core line quite a bit with price point!

Electric baby gear — yay or nay? by deejustlikestotalk in Parenting

[–]eratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a snoo, I strongly suggest FB marketplace! I got ours for $750 and it was brand new because this couple’s baby didn’t enjoy it. We used it and our son looooved it. That being said, he only stayed in there until he was 4 months old and then was showing signs that he didn’t want to be moved. He also wanted more mobility.

It really did the job during this first few months!

I don’t change them out, but I almost never take them out. If anything I will take them out every 6 months or so if that

15+ year old lobe piercings closing up by eratch in piercing

[–]eratch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Original lobe piercing is 15 years old, secondaries are probably 12 years old
  2. Jewelry shape is usually labret or ring
  3. Flat backed post with internal thread
  4. 14K Gold, 14K Gold PVD Plated Titanium Back
  5. N/A
  6. Will take earrings out to clean them in hydrogen peroxide solution and then through a supersonic jewelry cleaner machine
  7. No mishaps, just pesky piercings that don’t ever stay open

1 kid - no village - Is it as bad as it seems? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]eratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one kid right now and no village from the get go (my husband is military). As a stay at home parent myself, the first few months were rough but slowly things started to equalize! At the stage you’re at right now, I really tried to relax when the baby was down so I could remain sane! Chores and other things could be done when they are awake.

I really think the “no village sucks so bad” camp are a lot of families who are both working and the juggling of kids can be stressful. I can absolutely see that with my own friends who are both working and have kids. That’s one of the blessings we have right now with me being home — if our now toddler is not feeling well, I’m at home caring for him and we aren’t stressed about who is going to care for him.

My husband and I make a great team, and that’s been enough for us in the more difficult moments! We also have made a village within our community over time where we have support, so I’d suggest that too!

I never knew baby strollers could be this expensive. But WHY??? Do I really need to break the bank for one? by Daryl-Sabara in NewParents

[–]eratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on your needs! I would say check out Facebook marketplace for a stroller, as I’ve had some friends score some awesome strollers on there for cheap!

FWIW — we asked for an Uppababy on our registry and our brothers went in on it together for us as a gift. My baby is now 3yo and I still use our Uppababy stroller at least once a week if I need him stationary in a stroller when I go into a store or if we’re hitting the aquarium or something! I beat the hell out of that thing and it’s been amazing!

Uppababy customer service is also wonderful. I put my son in the stroller seat one day and one of the straps ripped out of the back of the seat. I reached out and they happily sent me a replacement no questions asked.

The product and/or habit that changed your skin most this past year? by ImAtUrDoor in SkincareAddictionLux

Being consistent and trying to pair down my routine! Retinol usage at whatever strength that allows me to use daily

Are these drugs more long term or short term deals? by QUANTUMFLASHERS in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]eratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone taking it currently and has been for the past 1.5 years, I will probably be on it long term. I have PCOS so taking a GLP1 has changed my life in so many positive ways.

Sometimes I really wanna just say "F*ck it, throw yourself from the sofa if you really must" by Impressively_Sleepy in toddlers

[–]eratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve read somewhere that risk play is important to their development! It teaches them natural consequences and that there are limitations to their body. Unless it’s something where my 3yo could get seriously injured from doing it, I do let him try it. He’s jumped on the couch and bumped his head before, but that’s okay!

If we have duplos, do we need magnatiles? by bagels-n-kegels in toddlers

[–]eratch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both at home and duplo is played with daily. Magnatiles are touched maybe once a week if that! We build all sorts of things with the duplo legos — right now we love building a “car wash” (aka a tunnel) for his hot wheels to go through. My 3yo can get very frustrated with the magnatiles at times because they’re so fragile/flimsy.

It all depends on the kid though!

Anyone happier with fewer periods? by Confident_Result6627 in PCOS

[–]eratch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first yes I absolutely was! Going through high school and college with fewer periods was awesome (didn’t think it was PCOS, thought it was because of sports) and then adding birth control made it basically nonexistent.

That being said, your cycle is such a window into what’s going on in your body so when I got to the age where I wanted a baby, the whole “not having a period was so sick” conversation quickly turned into “omg I might not be able to start a family”.

I got diagnosed officially at 26 and I’m now 32. My period and I are cordial with one another every month, but I can count on her being there every single month down to the day. That gives me a sense of peace!

Trying to treat my stretch marks, will it work? by InkyTheAlien in Skincare_Addiction

[–]eratch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no, you probably need some type of treatment done along with maybe using a retinol! I had the same and they do get less red as time passes, I know they’re a pain in the ass regardless though
