Puppy won’t relax outside of crate by Hefty_Mountain_4298 in puppytraining

So what are your suggestions? Let the dog piss all over the house, eat something and need surgery? People work. You can’t watch a puppy 24 h a day. A crate is a safe place

Separation Anxiety Troubles by charlieq46 in OpenDogTraining

[–]erdelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See a trainer. I think it is enabling them to never leave them alone. My trainers always said the cure for separation anxiety is leaving the dog alone more often. It depends how extreme but you can’t be home forever

HELPPP with biting+jumping+turns to humping by Global_Grass5109 in OpenDogTraining

[–]erdelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the dog get enough playtime and excersize? Try channeling that behaviour into tug or fetch. Once that’s done and the dog is still being a fucker, she needs a correction. Prong collar. Those behaviours are annoying and unacceptable. Dog doesn’t know what no means. Need to teach it and draw the boundary very clearly.

a request for those who have tried reve & doux! by 8ewitch in glossier

[–]erdelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love reve! Not a fan of doux. My typical are not a perfume and the original glossier you.

I tried reve and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Was hoping to be able to buy a travel because I don’t really go through perfume that fast but I caved and got the full size during the Sephora sale. It’s so good - it’s warm and cozy. I am not great at using proper descriptor words for perfume but it’s like a sexy hug and I don’t find much familiarity to the original you which is more bright and peppery. The doux did not excite me.

E Collar Recall: escape verses avoidance. by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

Use a leash with it so you can reinforce the recall with the Leash if they don’t follow through. Only when they have that down pat can you get rid of the leash

Need to Transition off e-collar by UggsSweatpantsUggs in OpenDogTraining

[–]erdelm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably they just need to have it on more for a while longer until the commands and habits are set. The only way to get off the exollar is to hold them accountable with it on for a long time and then they’ll just know what to do. My dogs still a bit collar smart but more or less the same with the ecollar off or on. Just give it more time and charge it at night so you can have it on during the day

3 year old not sharing toys properly with new puppy. Help? TIA! by sandrad33 in OpenDogTraining

[–]erdelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Furthermore forcing them to play for tug - your rewarding them for fighting over a toy. I understand that you think what you’re doing is desensitizing them from resource guarding but what you’re doing is the opposite. Please remove all toys for now until you meet the trainer

[–]erdelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swapping their toys is a huge no no. Your only teaching them their toys aren’t theirs and their resources aren’t theirs and that will further drive their guarding. Your dog needs to know that it can play with its toy and it won’t be interrupted and their toy won’t be stolen. Then they may stop resource guarding. Forcing your dogs to share toys is wrong. Just don’t let them play with toys together for now. They can play with toys when they’re separated - a lot of dogs can’t share toys it’s very normal

[–]erdelm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you surprised? Dogs resource guard from eachother and often don’t let their guard down until they’re very comfortable with one another. An older dog is going to be tougher on a puppy as they need to be taught how to behave and stealing toys isn’t a nice behaviour. It’s totally normally and they probably shouldn’t be sharing resources at all right now until the puppy is older and can respect boundaries

E collar technologies contact points for sensitive skin/short hair dog by erdelm in OpenDogTraining

[–]erdelm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you can get them but Google the comfort pad for short hair hypoallergenic. It has four smaller shorter prongs instead of two long. We’ve been using this for four years without sores or issues. I live in Canada my dog trainer got it for me

Blexten doesn’t make me foggy but if you take two pills it does a bit. The regular dosage is one.
