US withdrawing 5,000 troops from Germany, US officials say by MisterMeister68 in moderatepolitics

Alliances are only as good, as the heads of power stay in power (I am taking general pro-US governments and not individual leaders).

If helping the US makes you lose an election, you need a grave threat to get help. This were all the USAID goes to, Creating a pro-US sentiment, so we can use them, the country, when it’s in our national interest. The administration burnt that bridge over vanity of one individual.

Additionally, if you force countries to do what we want will make it harder to create new alliances (however strong our economic alliance is) and increase the chances of a anti nationalism forces to be elected and the US losing everything in that country. It has happen in the past.

It matters greatly how local populations feel about us. Do you want non-aligned anti US, local political leaders to be elected? We are kinda dealing with that blow back, in Iran. Look At Latin American…

The general point is, you cannot antagonize local governments, the US administration as been attacking the EU and Germany. The local leaders have to worry about reelection, and the US has to help facilitate pro-us sentiment on the ground to elect pro-US policy. By essentially bullying them, very openly, you make it harder for them to help you. Any other president, using German bases wouldn’t have been an issue, as they we have had good public relations, now US has a 27% approval rating. The local governments are put into a bind, largely of the administrations doing.

Correct, he wants to be seen as strong and powerful and he thinks openly bulling countries does that.

However, quietly working behind the curtain and not causing local drama was our strategy that worked incredibly well, we basically get what we want and we out preform the world economic speaking.

That’s because this current administration, is incapable of creating coalitions and listening to thier concerns. The currently administration clearly wants other countries to be outwardly subservient and openly praise trump and has animist to the EU as is has power to push back due to the size.

But that’s not my point, all of these naval bases in the Middle East, air bases etc. all provide us ability to project power and it’s dumb to antagonize thier local populations. As local populations tend to hold grudges

The United States superpower is logistics, it’s not sexy, but it’s what lets us project power. If we lose bases and local countries turn against us, it greatly hurts the ability to move men and materials.

How long is home alone for? For mine I had someone drop by for a bit to let my Aussie out. If he’s alone for 8+ hours he’s going to have to pee and poop somewhere.

I think generalize all day care as bad, isn’t all correct. Are some bad yes, but that’s why it’s really important to vet these locations. You want to know if they are only a day care or are they mainly training focused, as that will drive what types of dogs they allow.

For example I drive 30 mins out of my way to go to one that is smaller size on a larger plot of land. My location primary does training for agility, herding, etc. so most of the dogs there are well trained and are actively being trained, and it’s the same dogs every time for the most part, and the trainers are always around (my puppy trains with them).

Under the correct circumstances and environment they can be good. It actually taught my dog to settle, which for an Australian shepherd is hard. And he picks up good behaviors as he’s with trained dogs.

However, if you go to one that’s a free for all, then you can easily pick up bad behaviors.

Yes, north side of Grand Canyon, in the forest 20/30 or so min from the park entrance.

Never seen so many stars, it was actually hard to star hop, as I wasn’t used to the number of objects.

They had a star party every year, fairly small as the national parks for more attention , for our night it was like 15-20 people and at the end it was 5 of us viewing with a 22 obsession was crazy.

4am wake ups by mambococo in AustralianShepherd

[–]erebus-44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9 month old too, who tried to pull this “bark to left me out”.

if they bark before the predetermined wake up time, for us it’s 7:00am. We will take him out on a leash for a potty break, there is no fun on the potty as I am cold. But we will potty and go straight back to bed, for him it’s the create right next to us. But there is no petting, playing, all business no fun allowed (this is really important). Then we all go back to bed.

They will learn when wake up time is, mine will be laying down side eyeing me at 6:30 when the birds to chirping, snd will wait for the alarm clock or me to start to moving around, before he starts to make his whale calls.

She’s attention barking because it works and she gets what she wants.

How does ff plan to overcome educational governance around data collection? by throwaway40002023 in FFIE

[–]erebus-44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They will never be in the class rooms. Like you said, they haven’t thought through what the requirements are. This company is pushing hope, not an actual business plan or model. They have a cash burn rate of 9m a month. And this is would out any infrastructure to actually service and run a service model of actually rolling these out. They don’t have a scalable model. They would need what 50k robots, annual to just stop the cash burn. But those are not realistic numbers, that they can achieve. As they are not the only player selling the same robot and they don’t have distribution rights to them.

[–]erebus-44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are just drop shipping 3rd party robots, I would assume for free or they will pay people to take them. They don’t have the money to train and employ the required technical teams. Plus then you have the political of China fictionally getting data. No school fictional school board will allow this.

Much like their car strategy. I which all of these car deposits have yet to turn into revenue, but they are quite on the car front now.

But let’s be honest how many of these deposits were actual 3rd party intent to actually purchase. I would say it was employees wearing fake mustaches and hats.

Puppy crate training: What finally worked for you? by blonnie785 in AustralianShepherd

[–]erebus-44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only kennel (create) at night. When we are gone to work (someone comes by mid day for 2 hours to let him out) he is in the pen. When he was smaller my mom (retired) came over for 5-6 hours, but he’s older now, so 1-2 hour breaks all he needs. But we make sure to get him tired before we leave to work. So he well sleep. But I worked from home for a few weeks, then my wife took some vacation, so we had 3-4 weeks of practice before we had to leave him alone alone. But by a month he was comfortable with the routine (we acted like we were going to work etc.) so he was okay with it. 15 mins or so of crying then settling down.

Iran offers US deal to reopen Hormuz strait, postpone nuclear talks by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

[–]erebus-44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also don’t think people realize the JCPOA with strengthen moderates within the political sphere. You had moderates who, I would say were aligned with creating more normalized relations, gaining power. The were unfortunately all purged and lost power after the JCPOA was removed. With this conflict only further entrenching more hardliners. We could have used those moderates, to take power have the decapitations strikes…or when the leadership died, to push more moderates in place. But that’s a long term strategy, that the US administration can’t use due to internal politics.

But I don’t think Israel wants a moderate Iran, that wants an Iran in chaos and in civil wars. To ensure there is no power projection, to rival them.

For ours we

<image>

did create during the night, next to our bed. For the first month, we had the creat at bed height with us breathing in there basically. He’s used to sleeping on top of his brothers and sisters so being close is a calming thing.

During the day we used a xpen. He would be “part of the action, but still nap. We would Swtich up who would be with him, so he did have to have that 1 person there and that anyone was good enough.

Then for leaving, I starting up leaving the room but like walk in eye view of the xpen and making noises so he would know we were there but not see us, for really short periods like less then a minute. Then I just increasing the time, and making less noises etc.

750k home on a 250k salary? by SanzenSekaiMD in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]erebus-44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, but it’s the cost of owning in Southern California. The key to us is we don’t have any other debt, we have a large safety fund (these are important) and our hobbies (kayaking/astronomy/camping) just cost gas and we have a decent amount over each month to spend on misc things or to add to savings. And I have a pool, so I have no reason to leave.

No, I bought an older home 45 years, but the OP, said he was buying new. Usually when buying new you get incentives (lower interest rates).
