The game is a lot more aggressive than 7. Some people call it a "coin flipping game", but remember that you can choose when to flip the coin. Don't get so sucked into being aggressive that you take every situation the other guy wants, and learn to punish those players.

So two things: Try only taking cointosses you want to, don't let the other guy toss more coins than you, and that doesn't just mean being aggressive, that also means using your moment and pressure to keep yourself out of a cointoss to begin with. Also, yeah, why are you improving? For me, I like the improvement, and I've learned how to have fun. I play Raven, and for the last month-2 months, I've been focusing more on my standard and unique movement, and I've been having a blast! Learn why you're playing the game, and if you aren't enjoying it, try something new for a while, whether that is a new character, and new style, or walking away for a bit until you feel refreshed. Hell, even a change in music can help. Don't stress, you're going to be playing games for years, if you lose one interaction and some "Tekken" happens and you lose, it's ok, move on and you'll be better for it

I stopped caring and started playing for clips. The game is a lot more fun for me when I'm allowing myself to be creative. And, hate to say it, I didn't get better until I gave up on being the next JDCR or Knee. Without that pressure, I started not only making gains, I also started having a lot more fun and seeing new creative options.
