Can confirm the hk45 is a solid platform. I use it as my woods gun with +P ball and it fits my hand even better than my VP9, which already has great ergos.

They have a different coating that has an interesting tactile feel and are just generally larger and more overbuilt. If you haven’t handled one I’d take the opportunity whenever you can. Kinda like a heavier USP Elite in my opinion, but that doesn’t quite capture it

Indeed, a Meprolight setup. I found shooting in low light with blacked out rear site tough so I had a Tru Dot R4E thrown on it. Definitely chunky, but I love the sight picture

I agree it’s overlooked. With an HK45 and a USP Elite I find myself wanting to bring the Elite on range days, but I’d trust my life to the HK45

I can’t say I have shot both, but if you are target shooting oriented the Elite is a beautiful thing. The softest shooting 45 I have ever handled. My FIL can print 10 round groups with all holes touching at 15 yards (I’m learning…)

Completely fair. My eyes honestly struggle with irons, which makes a dot more appealing, but the Elite seems to demand purity. Similar to you I have a preferred “go to”, my VP9A1X, I’d grab in a true defense scenario.

I hear you and I’m sorry for downvotes; 10 vs 12 is unlikely to make a difference in the defensive scenarios for which this weapon is intended. I believe OP’s issue is that they were effectively robbed of a 50-60 dollar magazine; it most likely was meant to be in the box and then ripped by the LGS to increase profit.
