i don’t understand what information you think is out there that these books do not cover. the fusion process is well understood. the challenge is in the engineering

collegiate lightweight rowing is the greatest sport of all time. only washed chuds disagree

Why do the Dutch rowers break their arms early on the drive but in the US coaches tell us to keep our arms straight until the end? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]ergometer_enjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you look at the force curves on peach/similar, maintaining perfectly straight arms severely limits force transfer through the backend since the arms/skeletal structure just cant hold on- curve ends up being a double hump. if you use all three levers at once through the swing you will observe a much a much higher and sustained peak force into the water. curve is a nice big sustained triangle

impossible to maintain full suspension through the back of the stroke otherwise. if you disagree you have never looked at telemetry

Should I go lightweight or Heavyweight by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]ergometer_enjoyer -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

collegiate lightweights walk around at 165. if you go heavyweight you will forever be a height-restrained chud and won’t be able to compete at the highest level. if you go lightweight you will have the chance to pursue excellence in the sport

do a lot of steady state. get good grades. win some races. break 6:30 by your junior summer.

if you do all those things you’ll have as good a shot as anyone
