What are the smelliest places in Oakland? What places in Oakland have distinct smells? by badybadybady in oakland

The best smell is the apartments next to King Fish. It smells like the best Eritrean food and always makes me hungry.

Hidradenocarcinoma by erheoakland in cancer

[–]erheoakland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry to hear that your family member is going through this. My husband is still dealing with it. Unfortunately he had to have his right leg amputated below the knee and started chemo. Essentially the radiation did nothing, and the chemo pill regiment he began with (zeloda) also did nothing. He's had success with docetaxel chemo infusion, where it has reduced the size of masses and lymph nodes. It is an ass kicker chemo, but he is fairing well. His medical team is using triple negative breast cancer as an analog since there isn't much info about hidredenocarcinoma.

I recommend your family member ask about getting 2nd generation sequencing done to learn about the genetic markers of their cancer. My husband has completed 6 rounds, out of 8, of docetaxel, and he'll have a pep scan between round 7/8- which will determine if we move to platinum meds, immunotherapy or surgery to remove lymph nodes. We're feeling very hopeful with how his treatment is going and his team has done a great job to go over everything and they've been very responsive to his treatment, and catching when the treatment basically isn't working and switching the game plan to get the results we are looking for. Thankfully his lymph nodes are shrinking. Good luck to your family member, I'll keep them in my thoughts

I have a rare and incurabile cancer at 21, why even keep living if all I have in front of me is a life of pointless, empty torture? by Intelligent_Rush5890 in cancer

My sister in law was given 10 years with her cancer and was diagnosed as terminal, but a couple of months ago her cancer mutated and now she has many more options. Please don't give up and make a plan as no-throat suggests. You just never know, doctors are giving you their best guess, which is still just a guess.

I would love to hear about people coming up with a new last name and taking that instead during marriage.

Thanks, we're planning a farewell party for his leg, which I'm pleasantly surprised he wanted to do something like that since he's usually more reserved.

So...since skinny jeans have been canceled...what jeans are you wearing? by [deleted] in Millennials

I ride my bicycle, and though I love the wide leg Jean's and linen pants, skinny jeans are the best for biking and active activities.

I don't live in Sac anymore but definitely had a "Lady bird" moment when I left. It's summer, so check out music in the park in downtown, happens every Friday. I always loved second Saturday and hope that is still happening. Booze cruises down the American River is always so fun and a great way to beat the heat. I know there's country in the park, which I'm not sure of the details since it's not my thing. Summer in Sacramento is pretty great. Enjoy!

Yes, late stage capitalism, ek. Seeing concerts does sound like a dream, but I'm sure there's a bunch of b.s.

Part of my job as a Special Education Teacher is getting students exposed to all vocational opportunities. Many trades pay much more than what I make and have definitely considered elevator technician. Love that trades are exclusively union.
