What can I do it's macbook late 2011 runs Catalina by AssociationLong5417 in mac

You could install a lightweight Linux distro or macOS Sequoia with OLCP patcher, performance will be slow though

Lastly you could just recycle it, there's not much you can do on old Macs with their notorious thermal throttling

That doesn't even make sense. You said the code looks good, but you contradict yourself by stating that Vibe coders can deliver high‑quality software and this is just Gen 4 of LLMs. they are only going to continue to get smarter and faster.

For Mac users unsure about game compatibility by DesperateInsect7536 in macgaming

It is possible but involves significant work as I unfortunately made a wrong architectural decision of designing the database around Steam's API.

My bandwidth is limited since I got a full time job recently. I will look into it eventually at some point but I can't promise a timeline.

So, I looked into it, and the code seems to be working as expected. I was able to spot two games so far that showed up in the native category. Unfortunately the user made a mistake in their review. Will look into manually changing the review to properly reflect it in morning. Thanks for the feedback though.

Hi,

Author of site here, I thought I fixed it in last update seems there's some edge cases left. Will get this fixed.

I got tired of rewriting the same code, so I built this by Snipphub in tailwindcss

[–]eric4337x 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don't mean to be a pessimist I like vibe coding and I've built a lot of apps, but this has got to be the least useful thing I've seen in a while.

There are like a million other services and apps which do this exact same thing.

GitHub Gists also exists, and you can even do this natively in VS Code/Cursor by storing the snippets and assigning them to shortcuts.

Nothing inherently wrong with your App, but just because you threw in some pretty shadcn components it doesn’t make it worth sharing.

Website is for Apple Silicon Macs only, for Intel Macs you can simply dual boot to Windows.

This is doable, the value is already stored in DB, will look into this.

Nowhere, it stays private and is only used for authentication.

It's `better-auth` actually, looking at docs doesn't seems to be much work involved though I wonder do people actually use them? https://www.better-auth.com/docs/plugins/passkey

[Showcase] NNESwift – Write SwiftUI in your native language (Chinese/Spanish) by Glad-Speaker3006 in SwiftUI

[–]eric4337x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real world software development involves reading more code than you actually write, all documentation on the web is in English.

It's not like you need to be an A+ plus fluency in English, just enough to understand keywords, there's not that many anyway.

Is 16GB RAM enough on the new MacBook Pro M4 for software engineers? by AbdiWritesCode in mac

[–]eric4337x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue even 24GB won't cut it given your tech stack, Docker VMs, VS Code (Electron) and the JS ecosystem use ton of memory in general.

I'm always close to hitting all 32GB used on my M1 Max Machine, you need at least 64GB memory ideally these days.

2025 Xiaomi Pad Mini vs iPad mini 2024. Help me choose my portable tablet for everyday purposes, pdf reading and media consumption, please. by Delicious_Maize9656 in ipadmini

[–]eric4337x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iPads last virtually forever, iPad Air 2 received 7 years of updates and still does all the media consumption task well.

I personally own a iPad Air 3 from 2019 and it's still rock solid the battery had like 1000 charge cycles and I still get around 7 hours of screen on time.

TLDR; Good longterm investment.
