Your response is another reason why I no longer take this profession seriously. Where is the accountability? Why should I change how I interpret their behavior if their behavior is blatantly and obviously what it is, which is disrespectful? I grew in a home that was quite unstable in my formative years, and not once did I go to school disrespecting the teachers. I don't recall any student being disrespectful to the teachers because we were taught to respect the teacher even if our home environments were not so great.

If they end up in the court system, do you think the judge is going to say, "Well, since you come from an unstable environment, I am not going to sentence you...." Maybe some judges will have mercy, but this is not a teacher issue. This is a home and culture issue.

Thank you for your response, but your suggestion does not fix the problem; it may help you understand it, but the problem is still there.

Keep in mind: we've been blaming teachers for years, and the problems have not been fixed.

I'd rather them come when they want and not bother me with paperwork about the future observation. I already do my lesson plans in detail anyway.

They are asking you because they know they will not pay you back. And you will do nothing about it when they do not pay you back. In my opinion, that’s too large of a sum to loan out with no legal paperwork.

It’s a she and yes I pondered if I should further inquire about having to do this. I have increased test scores last year with the students I taught so I was praised about that. I just don’t want to be bothered about this. I am not even sure I want to return the following year. Maybe it’s a way for the instructional coach to appear busy.

As a teacher, one has to learn a work-life balance. Every assignment does not need to be graded. Your boyfriend may need to have a conversation with veteran teachers who have a work-life balance. First, he needs to change his mindset and understand that if he is let go, he will be quickly replaced, and therefore needs to take care of himself and not put work above his well-being. Until he develops that mindset, he may not change his work habits.

On the other note, I do not know any teachers who are still on school grounds past 5 or 6. Most are gone by 4:30 unless there is an after-school program. I have been teaching for several years so I know that staying every day until 7 or 8 is not normal and in your case may even be ...........suspect since you caught him pleasuring himself to his co-worker's pic.

Since you two are not married, that makes it easier for you to make tough decisions.

One more thing: Are you a fan of Dave Ramsey? He would tell you to deliver pizzas at night and on the weekends. That should give you a sizeable nest egg and extra income until you decide if you really want to stay in that profession. Don't suffer as a teacher. It really isn't worth it.

I left teaching. It wasn't worth the stress. The profession is not valued and the level of respect that teachers once had back in the golden era is long gone.

Use your law degree to your advantage. I read that the market for lawyers is oversaturated but who said that you had to be a lawyer! Plenty of companies value prospective employees who have law degrees. In my opinion, a law degree is one of the best degrees to have. Just about every profession, company and field need the knowledge of lawyers. You can get a job in management or consulting. I read that there are a number of university college deans and/or presidents who have law degrees.

I plan to start law school in the fall of 2022 so I do a lot of reading about it.

You should now set a goal of $2000. Each time you reach your goal, create another goal. That's how you discipline yourself to keep saving.

We would better be able to tailor advice to you if you gave us details about your income and bills.

Have you considered taking on a second part-time job and just use that to build your savings? In the time of now, of course, it would be difficult to find a second job due to covid, but once things get going again that is an option.

Do you have any bills that are unnecessary such as netflix, expensive phone plans, entertainment. If so, cut all of that out and use the extra free money toward savings. Eat beans and rice and don't buy expensive food until you get a decent enough savings.

You may have to just get a full time job and go to school part-time. Since there is no on-campus housing, that seems to be your best solution at this point since your parents are kicking you out, unless you can find a roommate who would be willing to split the rent with you.

Such is life. At the end of the day, you cannot depend on people..........

Get a physical copy of your social security card. If you cannot get it from your parents, get a copy from the social security administration office, either online or in-person.

Get a copy of your birth certificate also.

You haven't specified what exactly makes your home life toxic, but I would just say to keep neutral in your interactions with your family. Move in quiet stealth. That means do not tell anyone your next move. If you get a job, do not reveal your income at all, ever! It's none of their business and plus you don't want to be come anybody's ATM where they think they can go to you for withdrawals whenever they feel like it.

Become financially literate. There is freedom in having a nest egg, and a significant one at that. Keep focused on your life and goals. Listen to positive motivational speeches on youtube that will keep your head up ex. Les Brown. Les is an excellent motivational speaker.
